Job summary

Hydro One in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a Business Solutions Manager to lead planning, governance, and delivery of the Security & Infrastructure portfolio. You will translate strategic priorities into coordinated roadmaps, programs, and delivery plans alongside security, IT, and business leaders.

You’ll oversee portfolio management activities, including roadmap maintenance, funding alignment, dependency management, and resource planning, ensuring initiatives deliver value and meet regulatory

Responsibilities

• Act as a staff advisor and consultant to the business groups with advice, counsel and representation in technology opportunities, trends, planning and delivery of services. The AM owns the business unit relationship with key business partners.
• Support the business in planning activities focusing on the integration of system and technology plans with the goals, objectives, budgets and strategies of the business. In essence, focuses on how the business will evolve through employing technology to achieve this vision. Assist with business unit prioritization of investments.
• Work with Directors & Managers within Enablement to ensure the business/system plans are reflected in the annual business planning process.
• Assist in creating requirements and following the Enablement Investment Management process. Own the sub-processes for problem definition, requirements definition and assist in business case development for a business unit.
• Aid in successful and timely project delivery.
• Support project managers, business and staff on engagements as needed to ensure effective and efficient use of resources and delivery of business value.
• Advise the assigned Business Units of the feasibility of specific, business-initiated projects which involve IT.
• Cooperate with other areas of BIT in the application of standards, methodologies, and architectures.
• Provide an interface to IT: translating business needs into technical solution requirements.
• Align IT to business strategies and requirements.
• Act as a cooperative partner with Business unit staff and provide IT thought leadership in a useful, non-bureaucratic fashion.
• Work with clients to help determine service level requirements.
• Participate in continuous learning related to technology trends and directions and opportunities.
• Clarify for and provide advice to stakeholders, alternative paths for improving business return and business case associated with these actions.
• Co-ordinate stakeholders to create consensus on requirements which will be translated into business applications. Facilitate documentation of these requirements.
• Provide guidance to assigned Business Unit management on IT related education requirements for the Business Unit teams.
• Work with other AM’s to leverage cross business synergies and understanding and communicates interdependencies. Advise the Management on opportunities for IT leverage between and within business-initiated projects and with existing architecture and infrastructure.

Job Function

Support and advise the Manager in the planning, governance, and delivery of the Security & Infrastructure portfolio. The Business Solutions Manager will work closely with Security & Infrastructure leaders, project managers, technical teams, Finance, and other stakeholders to translate strategic, operational, regulatory, and technology priorities into coordinated roadmaps, programs, and delivery plans.

The role will lead and support portfolio and program management activities, including roadmap development and maintenance, program delivery oversight, demand and prioritization, dependency management, resource and capacity planning, and alignment of planned initiatives with approved funding. The Business Solutions Manager will maintain an integrated view of the portfolio and work with project managers to monitor delivery progress, risks, issues, milestones, and cross-project dependencies, escalating concerns and supporting corrective actions where required.

The role supports a broad Security & Infrastructure portfolio encompassing cybersecurity, physical security, governance, risk and compliance, IT and OT infrastructure, cloud and hosting, network and telecommunications services, workplace technology, and technology lifecycle and modernization initiatives. The Business Solutions Manager will develop portfolio-level insights and recommendations that support effective prioritization, sequencing, investment planning, and management decision-making.

This role is fundamental to ensuring Security & Infrastructure initiatives are appropriately planned, financially aligned, governed, and delivered in support of Hydro One's strategic objectives, operational requirements, regulatory commitments, and technology priorities.
