Alberta-School-Employee-Benefit-Plan is seeking a Business Process Analyst in Edmonton to join ASEBP's Business Delivery Services. The role focuses on understanding, documenting, analyzing, and improving processes across departments, driving measurable value through governance and standardization.

The analyst partners with business customers and SMEs to deliver current-state and future-state models, process ownership, and data-driven improvements that align with organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of relevant experience analyzing, mapping, designing, and improving business processes.
  • Experience facilitating process discovery and improvement sessions with stakeholders at different levels of an organization.
  • Experience using a BPMN-based process modelling tool, would be an asset.
  • A business process management or continuous improvement certification, such as Lean, or Six Sigma, would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Apply ASEBP’s business process management standards, methods, notation, and governance practices consistently.
  • Plan and facilitate interviews, workshops, focus groups, and other discovery sessions to understand how work is performed and where challenges and opportunities exist.
  • Document end-to-end current-state and future-state processes, business rules, hand-offs, roles, controls, data needs, and supporting systems.
  • Develop clear audience appropriate process maps and supporting documentation that protect sensitive information and meet ASEBP documentation standards.
  • Administer the process model repository and provide business process owners with the standards, guidance, and tools needed to manage and publish their process documentation.
  • Analyze processes to identify gaps, bottlenecks, duplication, root causes, risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities to improve work outcomes.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and structured problem solving with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Design practical future state processes that align with business objectives, customer needs, and standards.
  • Support teams in defining process metrics and measurement strategies for data-driven decisions.
  • Develop clear recommendations and support business case development presenting findings and value to leaders.

  • Pay or shift range: $81,500 CAD to $91,500 CAD The listed pay range represents the hiring range for this position, applicable to fully qualified candidates. Final compensation offers are determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related considerations. BUSINESS PROCESS ANALYST, BUSINESS DELIVERY SERVICES

Full-Time Permanent

Position Summary

As part of ASEBP's Business Delivery Services department, the Business Process Analyst works with internal business customers and subject matter experts to understand, document, analyze, and improve business processes. The role facilitates collaborative discovery sessions, develops current-state and future-state process models, administers the repository where process documentation is stored and governed, identifies process gaps and improvement opportunities, and supports teams to implement sustainable changes. The Business Process Analyst connects business needs, process design, data, and enabling technologies so that improvements align with organizational goals and deliver measurable value.

Your Key Responsibilities

Business Process Discovery and Documentation

  • Apply ASEBP’s business process management standards, methods, notation, and governance practices consistently.
  • Plan and facilitate interviews, workshops, focus groups, and other discovery sessions to understand how work is performed and where challenges and opportunities exist.
  • Document end-to-end current-state and future-state processes, business rules, hand-offs, roles, controls, data needs, and supporting systems.

Process Analysis and Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze processes to identify gaps, bottlenecks, duplication, root causes, risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities to simplify, expedite, measure, or improve work outcomes.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and structured problem solving with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Design practical future state processes that align with business objectives, customer needs, organizational capacity, and applicable standards.
  • Support business teams in defining process metrics and measurement strategies that help teams evaluate performance and enable data-driven decisions.
  • Develop clear recommendations and support business case development utilizing process and data insights by presenting findings, options, expected outcomes, and anticipated value to leaders and stakeholders.

Change Implementation and Process Sustainability

  • Partner with business areas to translate improvements into implementation plans, or where, appropriate, guide the team in submitting it as a request through the appropriate intake pipelines.
  • Support process testing, change impact analysis, change management and readiness activities, and the development of standard operating procedures, job aids, and training materials.
  • Clarify process ownership, roles, responsibilities, decision points, and hand-offs, including the use of RACI or similar tools where helpful.
  • Help business teams embed, monitor, and continuously improve new or revised processes after implementation, including providing process training, templates, and practical tools that build internal capability.

Collaboration Across Business Delivery Services

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Product Owners, project teams, technology teams, analytics resources, and other partners so process design is integrated into projects, products, and operational improvements.
  • Contribute process expertise to new initiatives and support alignment between business processes, system functionality, data, and organizational goals.
  • Estimate and coordinate process analysis and mapping activities, communicate progress and risks, and manage assigned deliverables.
  • Promote process management knowledge, reusable practices, and continuous improvement across ASEBP, and facilitate structured prioritization activities when teams need to evaluate competing demands and focus effort on high-value work.

Your Education and Experience

  • A degree in business, business process management, or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience analyzing, mapping, designing, and improving business processes.
  • Experience facilitating process discovery and improvement sessions with stakeholders at different levels of an organization.
  • Experience using a BPMN-based process modelling tool, would be an asset.
  • Experience defining process measures, analyzing process performance, and supporting change implementation.
  • Experience contributing to projects, product initiatives, technology implementations, or cross-functional operational improvements.
  • A business process management or continuous improvement certification, such as Lean, or Six Sigma, would be an asset.
