Your opportunity :

Under the direction of the Manager, Caretaking Services, the Business Officer provides administrative and financial support to the supervisors and managers within Caretaking Services. Acts as the first point of contact for visitors and guests to Caretaking Services, answers incoming calls and requests and redirects when necessary.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Planning and administering expenditures for operating budget
  • Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
  • Applying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements
  • Handling sensitive and / or confidential information
  • Generating standard financial reports
  • Processing payroll
  • Processing expense reimbursements
  • Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries
  • Answering daily phone calls and recording them
  • Directing calls to associate stakeholders
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of information
  • Tracking and monitoring the distribution and return of invoices
  • Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as needed

Essential Qualifications :

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in business or accounting or related discipline; or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience. Experience with preparing and monitoring budgets, analysis statistical data and using financial systems (e.g. SAP / FIS).
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently in order to meet frequent and overlapping deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy under conditions of frequent interruptions and multiple demands.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, critical thinking, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Assets (Nonessential) :

  • Familiarity with FIS an asset.
