Job description

We are seeking a lawyer with a background in and experience with First Nations law to assist in initiating and supporting our new First Nations legal subscription program, as well as to support counsel with ongoing files and First Nations clients.

Role Overview

The position is full-time and based in Barrie, ON. Our lawyers are sometimes required to travel throughout the region.

Qualifications

This ideal candidate for this position will be:

  1. a lawyer with 3-5 years of experience, preferably in business and/or real estate law, with Indigenous law background an asset
  2. a member in good standing with one or more Canadian Law Societies – and willing to be called to the bar in ON
  3. experienced with dealing with First Nations communities
  4. business-minded, with an interest in building a new practice area
  5. an individual with great marketing and interpersonal skills, which are crucial for success
  6. someone with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  7. self-motivated and driven
  8. flexible in terms of travelling to and working in First Nations communities, with a valid driver's license and vehicle required.
