Scope:

  • Work with project teams to ensure successful release of Business Intelligence reporting using Power BI. The resource(s) will be responsible for:
  • Using Power Query to extract data from different data sources and choose a storage mode and connectivity type.
  • Profiling, cleaning, and loading data into Power BI.
  • Designing data models that are intuitive, high-performing, and simple to maintain.
  • Using M and DAX language to create measures.
  • Ensuring high performance of Power Query data retrieval tasks.
  • Creating Power BI report designs and report formatting, including report navigation.
  • Examining, sorting, and presenting data using Power BI in a cohesive manner.
  • Leveraging statistical summaries of data and facilitating export of data from Power BI when required.
  • Applying and performing advanced analytics on reports for deeper and more meaningful data insights.
  • Leveraging workspaces in the Power BI service.
  • Deploying Power BI artifacts to workspaces and enabling sharing to users.
  • Connecting Power BI reports to on-premise data sources.
  • Configuring automatic refresh for Power BI datasets.
  • Understanding the report users' needs and their requirements.
  • Developing reports all the way into production.
  • Working with the project team in completing all relevant and required documentation in alignment with OPS standards.
  • Undertaking special assignments/sub-projects as assigned.
  • Conducting, assessing, evaluating, and documenting stakeholder interests and business needs.
  • Ensuring alignment and adherence to IT processes and standards.
  • Supporting the testing team during system and UAT testing.
  • Participating in Knowledge transfer.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Microsoft Power BI developer, building Business Intelligence reports and dashboards.
  • Demonstrated experience with M, DAX, and Power Query.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
  • Proven experience with SQL Server and other database technologies.
  • Proven, demonstrable experience in data modeling and data visualization; working with different data schemas and BI implementation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and data management.
  • Proven ability to partner with internal/external stakeholders and liaise with technical experts and non-technical colleagues.
  • Experience in understanding, capturing, and analyzing complex and sometimes competing business requirements to develop Power BI and Business Intelligence products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Strong written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills with special attention to correct use of tense, grammar/spelling, and terminology.
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills, including the ability to plan and prioritize workload, ensuring timelines are met and respond to demands of a dynamic environment.

Must Haves:

  • Previous OPS/Justice sector experience would be an asset.
