Reporting to the Senior Manager of Software Development, the Business Intelligence Data Specialist will be instrumental in designing, managing, and supporting the data and reporting landscape for the business. This strategic role requires experience in data modelling, data warehousing, and report model creation to shape the next generation of business intelligence and reporting solutions, especially as the company moves towards a new architecture leveraging the latest technologies. This is an exciting time as the business embarks on a digital transformation journey, migrating operations to the cloud and adopting new technologies.

As a BI Data Specialist, you will:
  1. Own and govern the business intelligence and reporting platform offerings.
  2. Provide insights into platform usage and metrics.
  3. Support migration of existing data warehouse and critical reporting to a new data warehousing platform.
  4. Ensure data cleanliness, consistency, and quality in the BI platform.
  5. Create data dictionaries to support reporting.
  6. Identify opportunities to improve business process efficiency.
  7. Troubleshoot technical issues and modify reporting applications as needed.
To be successful, you have:
  • Minimum of 8 years’ practical experience.
  • Post-secondary degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience and education.
  • Strong experience with relational databases, data modelling, and warehousing principles.
  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server stack – TSQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience with data migration, cleansing, validation, and de-duplication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in developing standards, procedures, and guidelines for operational processes.
  • Self-motivated with good prioritization skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with flexibility and dedication.
  • Willingness to work outside normal hours occasionally.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Results-oriented with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred experience includes:
  • Cloud computing (Azure preferred).
  • Microsoft D365.
  • Azure DevOps.
  • CI/CD pipelines.
  • GIT.
  • Azure Data Warehouse.
  • Microsoft Fabric, including Synapse Data Warehouse and Data Factory.
  • CRM systems.
