Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience articulating and translating technical language for non-technical audiences, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience presenting data through queries, dashboards, and reports in an understandable manner.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and optimizing Power BI solutions that transform complex datasets into actionable insights for policy, operations, and executive reporting.
  • Experience planning, conducting, and analyzing co-design workshops with service users.

Nice to Have:

  • Relevant post-secondary education in supply chain, procurement, business, or related fields (minimum 2-year diploma).
  • Experience with public sector procurement processes similar in size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
  • Experience with PowerBI, PowerView, Microsoft SQL Reporting, and Analytical Services.
  • Experience working with large government datasets.

Job Description:

  • Contribute to delivering business intelligence capabilities supporting department stakeholders.
  • Work with various data sets including education, finance, census, etc.
  • Utilize technology products like SAP and Power BI to meet evolving information needs.
  • Collaborate with in-house staff and contractors effectively.
  • Analyze data, gather and document requirements, design information products, and ensure quality standards.
  • Respond to ad-hoc inquiries, perform data analysis, audits, and data mining.
  • Manage issues, risks, and change at the program level.
  • Work within a multi-vendor/staff environment.

Working hours are from 8:15 to 4:30 with a 1-hour lunch, Monday through Friday, Alberta time. This is a new role.

Scoring Methodology: Financial/Pricing 10%, Resource Qualifications 30%, Interview Process 60%.
