Job summary

An innovative firm is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to support data-driven decision-making within a dynamic environment. Job Purpose

The Business Intelligence Analyst gathers, examines, interprets, evaluates, reports, and analyzes data captured across the Law Society to draw key insights and support data-driven decision making. Responds to requests for data and statistics, elicits and documents data-related requirements, assesses data issues, and produces analyses and reports. Facilitates the completion of assigned projects and tasks by coordinating stakeholder relationships with competing priorities and expectations.

Qualifications Required
  • Minimum of a 3-year college program (in a specialized / technical / trade discipline) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in business / data analysis, preferably in a legal or regulatory environment.
  • Project management, business intelligence, and reporting and information systems experience.
  • Providing high-quality internal customer service.
  • Understanding of business unit processes, workflows, and management control structures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite / 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Advanced proficiency in SharePoint and Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, vlookup, etc.).
  • Knowledge of databases and data analysis tools (e.g., SQL Server, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, PowerApps, PowerAutomate, Excel PowerQuery, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence software (e.g., IBM Cognos, Power BI, etc.).
  • Proficiency in SQL and Data Modelling.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps is an asset.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop working relationships with business units across the organization.
  • Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement activities.
  • Coordinate testing for data and reporting projects in collaboration with the CDAR team and IT; communicate issues and recommend or implement solutions.
Client/Customer Service
  • Use business intelligence software to analyze and respond to data/statistics requests from internal and external clients.
  • Review reports and documents to identify data needs, analyze issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Prepare statistical analyses and reports for the Manager, CDAR.
Performance Management
  • Assist in establishing and monitoring work against performance goals for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Coordinate planning, resource allocation, and prioritization for CDAR operations.
  • Track and resolve database and IT system issues; work with staff to coordinate major projects and initiatives.
Team Collaboration
  • Extract insights from data, legislation, and business processes to support informed decision-making.
  • Work closely with various teams to respond to data requests, document requirements, and improve reporting processes.
  • Share expertise and recommend improvements in data and reporting systems.

The Law Society has adopted a Distributed Workforce Model for flexibility and productivity, with work arrangements classified as hybrid, involving both home and office work. Specific arrangements will be communicated during the recruitment process.
