Title: Business Intelligence Analyst (BI Analyst)
Location: Edmonton, Alberta, CAN (Onsite-5days/week)
Duration: 12 months contract (Possible Extension)
Note: This resource will work remotely; however, the resource may be required to attend meetings or work sessions in office on reasonable notice from the Province. Client does not pay for travel expenses.
Description:
- Contribute as part of a team, responsible for delivering business intelligence capabilities to support internal and external department stakeholders’ information needs.
- Deliver work products based on various sets of data including (but not limited to) education, post-secondary education, apprenticeship, finance, and census data.
- Work with a selection of technology products (such as SAP, Power BI) that must address the ever-changing technology and increasing appetite for information from internal and external department stakeholders.
- Work effectively with a team made up of in-house staff and contract resources.
- Analyze data and prepare information results.
- Gather and document requirements.
- Design and construct information products.
- Capture business and technical metadata for information products.
- Gather requirements for control processes including schedule management, status reporting, issues, risk, and change management at the program level.
- Produce deliverables within specified quality standards and timelines.
- Define and perform quality assurance on business intelligence deliverables.
- Respond to ad-hoc information inquiries.
- Perform data analysis, data quality audits/reviews, statistical analysis, and data mining.
- Escalate issues and risks as appropriate.
- Work within a multi-vendor/staff environment.
Must Have:
- Experience articulating and translating technical language for non-technical customers both verbally and in writing.
- Experience presenting data in queries, dashboards, and reports in an understandable way.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions that transform complex datasets into actionable insights for policy, operations, and executive reporting.
- Experience planning, conducting, and analyzing findings from co-design workshops with service users.
- Experience with Power BI, PowerView, Microsoft SQL Reporting, and Analytical Services.
