*Who is the Rockton Agricultural Society?*For over 170 years, the Rockton Agricultural Society and its members have encouraged an awareness of agriculture and rural living and promoting improvements in the quality of life of persons living in our agricultural community.As a Society we raise awareness through agricultural education and entertainment, which includes our signature annual Rockton World?s Fair, held each year on Thanksgiving weekend.*Position Summary: *The Rockton Agricultural Society (RAS) is seeking a General Manager to oversee the daily operations, event planning, and property management of the organization. The General Manager builds strong relationships with board members, employees, volunteers, exhibitors, sponsors, and other stakeholders to meet goals and objectives. This leadership role is integral to the success of the annual Rockton World?s Fair and the effective administration of RAS activities throughout the year.*Key Responsibilities:** Oversee daily office administration and financial management* Manage and supervise the full-time office assistant, part-time bookkeeper, and two seasonal office helpers* Coordinate Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings, including scheduling, agendas, minutes, and related documentation* Manage rental agreements, property inspections, and post-event evaluations for RAS-owned facilities* Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, sponsors, and service providers; oversee contracts and solicit offers of service* Prepare and distribute event materials such as sponsorship packages, fair tickets, and concessionaire passes* Manage contracts and logistics for fair services, including judges, announcers, amusement providers, ticket suppliers, and cleaning services* Represent RAS at meetings with stakeholders, including the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS)* Oversee compliance with permits, licenses, and insurance requirements* Provide on-site operational support for events and rentals* Handle the procurement and inventory of event-related supplies, including ribbons, fire extinguishers, and liquor inventory* Work safely, and identify and address any health and safety concerns*Qualifications:** Proven leadership and administrative experience, preferably in event management or a nonprofit organization* Must have post-secondary education in business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience* Strong organizational and communication skills* Financial management expertise, including knowledge using accounting software such as QuickBooks* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders* Experience managing contracts, property rentals, and event logistics* Experience finding, writing, and applying to grants* Experience using social media to promote events* Knowledge of AsistEXPO or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems is preferred* A background in agriculture or experience living or working within a rural community is considered an asset*Hours of Work: ** 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday* Evening and weekend availability is required a few times per month or more, depending on the needs of the Society* In this position, during Thanksgiving weekend, you are required to be available for Friday to Thanksgiving Monday, days and evenings, each year*Requirements:** Access to a personal vehicle and valid driver?s license* Must provide a current criminal record and judicial matters check or willingness to obtain at own cost* Must have current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain prior to starting position*Compensation:** $75,000 - $85,000 salary, with 3 weeks paid vacation time*To apply for this position, please email your cover letter and resume by 5:00PM on August 12, 2025, to: Melissa Nimijohn, President, Rockton Agricultural Society **Email: president@rocktonworldsfair.com*Individuals who are
