Job description

Black & McDonald’s BC team is growing! If you are an independent, enthusiastic, and driven professional searching for a new opportunity to apply your sales skills, this position is for you. The Business Development Representative position is located in Vancouver and reports directly to the Business Development Leader. It is a 100% hunter sales role with un-capped commissions. Black & McDonald will provide industry leading sales training, coaching and mentorship to someone who is motivated to succeed.

As a Business Development Representative, you will be responsible for selling Facilities Management and HVAC maintenance agreements to new clients. As a member of the Service Sales team you will work with potential clients to evaluate their current situation and develop solutions that achieve their business objectives. Through ongoing training and development, you will use the proven Black & McDonald sales process to achieve your personal and departmental sales goals. The successful candidate would also assist the team in the development of long term client relationships. This position involves:

  1. Researching, cold calling and setting up meetings with potential clients
  2. Utilizing proven sales methods to identify and target potential clients for future service work
  3. Meeting with and developing impressionable relationships with potential clients to successfully understand their needs and specific requirements
  4. Assessing potential client needs and resources and recommending the appropriate solution
  5. Developing and maintaining communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of internal staff and customers
  6. Working with Project Representative and providing input where non contractual HVAC related services must be tailored to suit clients' needs
  7. Developing reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to potential clients
  8. Preparing sales contracts under the direction of the Sales Team
  9. Pricing the agreement according to the company pricing standards
  10. Preparing start-up documents for set up and attending start up meetings with new clients
  11. Continuing personal professional development
  12. Participating in department planning meetings as necessary
  13. Keeping internal software and database up to date with sales activities

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Business or Marketing (or equivalent combination of education and experience) is preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior experience in Business Development/Sales would be considered an asset
  • 2-5 years of experience in a “hunter” sales role with strong cold calling abilities
  • Successful track record in hitting sales targets and quotas

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Superb time management and organization skills
  • Competency in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Competency in a web based sales tracking software such as Sales Force
  • High degree of self-motivation and resilience
  • Willing and able to travel within the Greater Vancouver area for site visits as needed
  • Clean non-graduated Class 5 BC Drivers’ license and abstract

The expected salary range for this role is between $70,000 and $80,000 plus commission. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
