A leading environmental services company in Edmonton is looking for a Business Development Representative to grow its market in environmental testing. You will manage client relationships, conduct market assessments, and expand connections across various industries. About the Position
The position is responsible for growth of ALS’s market position in environmental testing in Alberta, but with a strong focus on the Northern Alberta/Edmonton region. The primary focus is the fostering of existing relationships with key clients while building upon the continued efforts of ALS to develop new relationships with industry stakeholders. The role will manage potential challenges as well as work with internal teams to ensure a high level of client satisfaction.
A major measure of success through these engagements will include strategic revenue growth through retention of major accounts and acquisition of new key accounts. In this role, you will build reputation and credibility through participation in regional committees, industry associations and workshops.
Specific Responsibilities
Obtain, assess and report on intel related to local market trends
Conducting market assessments to assist in developing innovative solutions for clients
Expanding existing relationships across multiple industries
Contribute to and potentially lead projects related to development of national accounts
Reporting on new opportunities and recommending/executing agreed win strategies
Prepare and provide quotations as requested by existing and potential clients
Develop and target a list of local clients with high revenue potential
Attend and potentially speak at trade shows, networking events, and industry events
Lead , organize, and/or participate in ALS-hosted client presentations, seminars, and workshops
Address account related issues with urgency
Work with management on response to RFPs
Participate in projects related to development of national accounts
Proactively plan and perform client visits and business development activities at target accounts
Work with internal teams to promote client service excellence
Work within the sales team to maximize sales, customer service and efficiency
Maintain knowledge of environmental criteria and guidelines, as well as laboratory capabilities and service offerings
Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned by the Manager
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong business development skills and adept at building relationships
Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
Highly motivated, an independent thinker and able to work as part of a team
Strong skills in grasping technical concepts
Demonstrated judgement, creativity, integrity, and ability to problem solve
A strong orientation towards high level of care and service
Experience with (and a supporter of) CRM software
Able to effectively manage change in a dynamic environment and balance multiple priorities
Ability to evaluate and recommend improvement to business processes
Ability to effectively handle escalations and time critical issues
Energetic self-starter capable of working independently
Required Qualifications
Seeking 10 years of experience in a competitive and fast-paced environment
Seeking 10 years of experience client service, business development and/or sales roles
A science background (college, university) with 10 years of experience in the environmental sector
An existing industry network may be a differentiator
Ability to travel throughout the assigned region
Valid Provincial Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving history (abstract required)
Use of your own vehicle for travelling
Physical Demands
Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks such as data entry
Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day
Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities
