Job summary

Sun Life Financial is seeking a district leader to recruit, onboard, train, and coach Financial Advisors during their first four years under contract. You will source candidates via community contacts and referrals, support licensing education, and shape business plans with clients.

Leading onboarding, delivering product knowledge and sales process training, and mentoring Advisors to achieve financial objectives are core duties. Strong regulatory knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

Job description

Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and coach Financial Advisors during their first four years under contract.
Source candidates through community contacts, centers of influence, and referral sources.
Support candidates with licensing education, market identification, business planning, and joint appointments with Clients.
Train and onboard new Financial Advisors and oversee their onboarding plans.
Deliver product knowledge and sales process training, and provide pre- and post-sale support.
Develop Financial Advisors’ skills through coaching in prospecting, holistic solutions, cross-selling, the sales cycle, and business management.
Help Financial Advisors achieve their financial and strategic objectives.
Collaborate with Head Office Centres of Excellence.
Monitor and analyze Financial Advisors’ activities and data.
Oversee required measures to ensure operational compliance.
Verify training, registration, licensing, and product suitability assessments.
Escalate complaints and investigations involving Financial Advisors.
Ensure Financial Advisors’ conduct complies with their contracts.
Achieve key recruitment and production metrics.
Foster a positive culture in the district through events, recognition programs, and meetings.
Build Sun Life’s and local Financial Advisors’ community presence through events, activities, and sponsorships.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry.
Valid life insurance license in the province where the district is located.
Valid mutual funds license, or obtain the license within the first 90 days.
Successful completion of the Branch Managers’ Course examination within the first 6 months.
Sufficient experience to register as a mutual funds branch manager with the applicable provincial securities commission.
In good standing with the applicable regulatory bodies.
Proficiency with a range of technology tools, including Salesforce, financial planning software, and Microsoft applications.
Business acumen and knowledge of insurance and wealth management products.
Strong sales management and business development skills.
Strong prospecting and recruiting skills.
Mentoring, coaching, and performance management skills.
Problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to lead an effective performance management process in a sales culture.
Previous experience leading sales teams.
Excellent working knowledge of the regulatory environment.
