Position Overview
The Business Development Manager for VSS & Infrastructure Services will be responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding Applus+’s presence across Canada in Vendor Surveillance Services (VSS) and Infrastructure Services. This role involves strategic sales, client management, market analysis, and oversight of complex service offerings. The successful candidate will identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities, leveraging Applus+’s global expertise in inspection, asset integrity, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business development strategies to grow VSS and Infrastructure Services in Western Canada.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities by leveraging technical expertise and global best practices.
- Build relationships with municipalities, water infrastructure operators, construction firms, and O&G facilities.
- Coordinate early project commercial activities to establish long-term client relationships.
- Serve as a technical resource, providing guidance on inspection methodologies and standards.
- Stay updated on industry standards, innovations, and best practices.
Sales and Market Expansion
- Achieve revenue targets through existing client relationships and new opportunities.
- Conduct market analysis on competition, pricing, service gaps, and technological trends.
- Create proposals, RFIs, RFPs, and bid documents for new business in inspection, asset integrity, and infrastructure services.
- Collaborate with global and regional teams to ensure best practice application.
Service Line Development
- Manage and grow service lines including Vendor Surveillance, Construction Inspection & Supervision, Asset Integrity & 3D Modeling, Water Infrastructure Inspection, AI-driven Road Management, Monitoring Services, and Environmental Monitoring.
Client Relationship Management
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as the primary contact.
- Develop initiatives to educate clients on new technologies and services.
- Leverage existing contracts to cross-sell services and create integrated solutions.
Operational Collaboration
- Work with regional teams to ensure project execution and client satisfaction.
- Coordinate with finance, operations, and technical teams on pricing strategies.
- Facilitate technology transfer and best practice sharing across regions.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and company policies.
Performance Metrics
- Achievement of revenue and growth targets.
- Expansion of market presence in VSS and Infrastructure Services.
- Client satisfaction and retention.
- Success in bidding and securing contracts.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge in vendor inspection, asset integrity, NDT, and infrastructure services.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Analytical skills for market and competitive assessment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of financial management and industry standards (ISO 9001, ISO 17020).
- Extensive network within Canada and North America.
- Leadership ability to mentor colleagues.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (asset).
- At least 5 years in business development or operations in NDT, VSS, or related industries.
- Experience in vendor inspection and infrastructure services is a strong asset.
- Track record of meeting / exceeding revenue goals and securing large contracts.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with occasional site visits.
- Travel within Canada required.
- Flexible hours and responsiveness outside regular hours.
- Potential exposure to varied environmental conditions on-site.
