Paracel Laboratories Ltd. is a full-service environmental and Indoor Air Quality laboratory. Our main laboratory facilities are located in Ottawa and are supported by an environmental lab in Hamilton and microbiology and asbestos laboratories in Mississauga. Additional service depots are located in Kingston, London, Niagara, Windsor, and Richmond Hill. We support a broad spectrum of projects for professional clients from across Canada and around the world. Our client base primarily consists of major environmental consultants, all levels of government and industrial manufacturers located predominantly in Ottawa, Toronto, Niagara, Eastern and Southwestern Ontario.
The Opportunity:
We are looking to fill a Business Development Manager (South Western Ontario Region). Reporting to the Manager of Business Development this position improves corporate market position and to achieve revenue growth both with the existing client base and with new clients in specific geographies. This position, is responsible for building key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business opportunities and maintains up to date knowledge of the current market place.Business Development Managers work closely with Account Managers, Client Service Representatives and Senior Management to increase sales opportunities and solidify key relationships.This is a Permanent, Full-timeopportunity for South Western Ontario Region.Key Responsibilities:- Manage and sell to existing client base through client calls and other means to grow existing client base;
- Prospect for new clients through networking, cold calls and other means;
- Participate in industry functions, tradeshows and client events both on and off regular business hours;
- Interact and communicate closely with Account Managers and Client Service representatives;
- Participate in client kick-off meetings related to major contracts/projects and other client meetings as necessary;
- Provide quotations and pricing information to clients;
- Possess a clear understanding of the regulatory requirements;
- Demonstrate a positive corporate attitude and to act as an ambassador;
- Gather information relating to the Environmental Lab industry, competitors’ strategies and communicate within Paracel;
- Provide Clients with timely and accurate information by consulting with appropriate staff as required;
- Comply with company QA/QC and Health & Safety policies and procedures;
- Perform other tasks as assigned or dictated by position;
Qualifications:- Must have a college degree/diploma in chemistry or environmental science with 1 to 2 years laboratory or related customer service experience;
- 2+ years of experience in sales, business development, or account management (ideally within environmental services, laboratories, or technical industries);
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to prospect new clients and grow existing accounts;
- Working knowledge of salesforce for managing meetings, notes, RFPs, and quotations would be an asset;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently;
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to environmental laboratory services; familiarity with QA/QC and health & safety practices
