pointA (www.pointa.ca) is a non-profit that envisions sustainable transportation options for everyone. Our goal is to connect people to the places they want to go. We aim to give people and businesses transportation options that benefit the environment, the economy, and the well-being of our communities. In collaboration with our funders, members, and partners, we facilitate transportation demand management (TDM) programs and advocate for sustainable transportation.

Our core activities include developing, launching, and monitoring TDM programs for medium- to large-sized organizations. We promote a menu of options for commuters, such as transit, ride-matching, shuttle buses, vanpooling, telecommuting, cycling, and walking.

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, you will be responsible for increasing the number of clients across our programs and will be the first and main point of contact for leads. This is a collaborative role in which the Business Development Manager will lead the business and sales development efforts, working with program managers who can provide advice and support, and supporting the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager on marketing efforts.

  • Increase the number of pointA clients by working with the team to develop sales strategies, drafting and delivering sales pitches and workplans, developing relationships with new clients via cold calling/emailing and sales campaigns, responding to inquiries, and conducting discovery calls. The main priority is to increase workplace clients for the Smart Commute program.
  • Maintain our sales software (HubSpot), manage and refine sales processes based on evidence, and ensure regular updates by the team. Develop SOPs and record them in the Employee Handbook for process consistency.
  • Work with the Senior Program Manager and Executive Director to prepare monthly and annual business development plans, setting revenue targets and KPIs. Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to integrate these KPIs into marketing tactics and create dashboards in HubSpot to track progress.
  • Assist the Marketing & Communications team in developing marketing strategies and campaigns, including drafting presentations, reference materials, social media content, and other documents.
  • Identify and pursue networking, speaking opportunities, and partnerships to showcase the organization’s work as part of the marketing strategy.

Programs (20%) :

  • Ensure smooth client handoff to program managers.
  • Support outreach and client events as needed.
  • Attend meetings with funders (e.g., Campaigns and Communications Committee, York Region TMA) to stay informed about program updates.

National expansion (10%) :

  • Collaborate with the Programs team on market research to identify and pursue opportunities in new markets or industry segments to generate revenue.
  • Use data analysis from customer feedback, census data, and other sources to identify growth opportunities.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 2 years of proven sales experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with a caring persona, embodying pointA’s values.
  • Strong research skills to quickly identify opportunities.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands from funders, clients, and the team.
  • Experience with sales software (HubSpot), including dashboard design.
  • G class license and access to a vehicle for travel across the GTHA.
  • Experience in sustainable transportation or non-profits.
  • Lived experience in transportation within Halton Region.
  • Cycling experience.

What we offer :

  • A small, passionate team that values innovation and creativity, with opportunities to make a direct impact.
  • Flexible hours and work arrangements.
  • Competitive vacation and benefits, with a potential sales bonus.

Hybrid Work Policy

Our team is fully remote for daily operations, but occasional travel across the GTHA is required with notice.
