Business Development Manager – Medical-Grade Plastics (Distribution)

Location: Canada (Remote or Office-based, with travel as needed)

Reports To: Business Unit Director – Advanced Materials, Industrial Solutions and Lubricants

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join our growing team, focused on the distribution of medical-grade plastics, including thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), polyolefins, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), and other biocompatible materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining existing client relationships, and acting as a trusted advisor in the Canadian healthcare and medical device manufacturing sector.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Development: Identify, qualify, and pursue new sales opportunities within the medical device, pharma packaging, and healthcare OEM sectors across Canada.
  2. Client Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients including manufacturers, design engineers, procurement teams, and contract manufacturers.
  3. Technical Sales: Provide in-depth product knowledge of medical-grade plastics, including compliance with ISO 10993, USP Class VI, and Health Canada regulations.
  4. Principal Development: Identify and develop new opportunities to add new Principals specific to medical-grade plastics.
  5. Market Intelligence: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging needs in the medical plastics field.
  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with technical teams, logistics, regulatory, and customer service to ensure seamless delivery and support.
  7. Reporting: Maintain CRM records, prepare sales reports, and provide forecasting updates to the leadership team.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of business development experience in plastics, medical devices, or related technical distribution.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical-grade polymers (e.g., TPU, PE, PP, TPE, PC, PEEK).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce CRM software.
  • Ability to travel across Canada as needed (approx. 20–40%).

Preferred:

  • Experience working with material suppliers, compounders, or specialty distributors.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is a strong asset.
  • Established network in medical manufacturing, R&D, or hospital procurement.
