Nestled in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, InterContinental Hotel Brisbane will open to guests this winter, offering 321 spacious hotel rooms and suites, all day dining restaurant and lobby bar, outdoor pool, fitness centre and Club Lounge, all in a prime location above Queen Street Mall, perfect for exploring the city’s top attractions. With over 1800 square metres of meeting and events spaces, InterContinental Brisbane offers versatile function rooms and a Grand Ballroom catering for up to 1000 guests, making it a great choice for business and leisure events alike.

We’re always looking for new ways to raise the bar. So, we’re searching for a Business Development Manager with a track record of driving sales and smashing targets to help us fill our rooms, suites and meeting and event spaces.

A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but as part of our team, you will play a key role in:

1. Supporting the Director of Sales & Marketing with market research to identify target markets, competitor analysis, and understanding the local business environment.
2. Supporting in the creation and development of sales and marketing strategies tailored to the target market segments.
3. Creating and implementing sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase volume, food and beverage sales.
4. Establishing and maintaining relationships with potential clients, corporate partners, event planners, and local businesses.
5. Creating sales collateral to showcase the hotel's amenities, services, and unique selling points.
6. Assisting in the recruitment and training of the sales and marketing team.
7. Identifying and negotiating partnerships with relevant organizations, such as airlines, tour operators, and travel agencies, to drive bookings and increase brand visibility.
8. Building and maintaining a database of potential clients, leads, and contacts for targeted marketing campaigns and sales efforts.
9. Hitting all personal and team sales goals to help us maximise profitability.
10. Producing and reviewing monthly reports to monitor performance.

What we need from you

1. Four or more years of experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting with direct supervisory experience over a sales team
2. Experience working with a large or a variety of market segments, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting
3. Strong knowledge of local businesses and business trends and competitor activities within the local market
4. Ability to work autonomously, be proactive and take accountability for workload
5. Strong communications skills that can guide, influence and build professional rapport with clients
6. Tertiary studies in Sales, Marketing, or Business Administration
7. Tech savvy with IT literacy in Microsoft Office suite, and Sales and CRM systems expertise
8. Fluent in the English language
9. Impeccable grooming standards and good personal hygiene
10. Full working rights in Australia without restrictions
