Job description

Build the market for the next era of cattle ranching.

What if ranchers could move cattle, manage grazing and create new grazing areas without putting another physical fence in the ground?

That's what eShepherd makes possible.

Our virtual fencing technology combines solar-powered neckbands, GPS and intelligent software to give cattle producers greater flexibility in how they manage their animals, land and time.

Already used across 20+ countries, eShepherd is scaling across Canada. We're looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager who knows how to open doors, build trust and turn opportunity into growth.

Why eShepherd?
What We Offer Is Fundamentally Changing How Producers Operate.

Our customers are moving cattle remotely, managing grazing more precisely, using labor differently and creating grazing areas without building physical fences.

We're a global AgTech scale-up backed by Gallagher, a company that's been solving problems alongside farmers and ranchers for 88 years. You get the pace, autonomy and opportunity of something we're still building, with the reach and backing of an established global agricultural business.

We choose progress over perfection. We stay close to customers. We learn quickly, act on what we discover and keep moving.

If you want to sell something genuinely different and help shape how we take it to market, you'll have that opportunity here.

The opportunity

This is a true business development role.

You’ll build and grow a quality pipeline, develop new customers and strategic accounts, and create relationships across Canada's cattle industry that expand eShepherd's reach.

But this isn't transactional selling.

You’ll spend time with producers understanding how they manage cattle, grazing, labor and land. You’ll uncover what's getting in their way, demonstrate what eShepherd can make possible and tailor the solution to their operation.

You’ll own opportunities from first conversation through proposal, negotiation and close, while developing major accounts, partnerships and distribution opportunities.

And because we're still scaling, your influence goes further than the sales number. What you learn from Canadian producers will help shape our product, pricing, marketing and go-to-market strategy.

What You'll Do
  • Build and own a strong pipeline of cattle producers, strategic accounts and partners.
  • Prospect for new business while converting qualified inbound opportunities.
  • Build trusted relationships and understand each customer's operation, challenges and goals.
  • Demonstrate eShepherd and develop solutions tailored to individual cattle and grazing operations.
  • Own opportunities through proposal, commercial negotiation and close.
  • Develop major accounts and distribution partnerships that accelerate market growth.
  • Maintain disciplined CRM, pipeline management and forecasting.
  • Partner with Customer Success to deliver excellent onboarding, adoption and retention.
  • Build relationships across Canada’s agricultural industry and represent eShepherd at events and industry forums.
  • Bring customer and market insights into Product, Marketing and global commercial decisions.
Who thrives here?

You're a strategic hunter who knows how to build trust.

Creating opportunities energizes you. You're comfortable picking up the phone, opening doors, building a network and being accountable for revenue.

But you know great agricultural sales starts with listening.

You're curious about how producers operate, commercially sharp enough to uncover where value exists and credible enough to guide customers through meaningful change.

You're strategic when you need to be and hands-on when it matters. You don't need a perfect playbook before taking action, and you're comfortable building the market while helping us improve how we sell.

You know your pipeline, use CRM properly and understand that strong forecasting is part of being a professional salesperson.

Most importantly, you want to win, but you want the customer to win too.

What You'll Bring
  • Proven success in business development, solution sales or strategic account management.
  • A track record of winning new customers and delivering revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of beef cattle, grazing management, AgTech or agricultural production.
  • Strong commercial acumen and confidence navigating complex sales opportunities.
  • Experience developing markets, strategic accounts or partner relationships.
  • A practical, curious and adaptable approach with the drive to get things done.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Fluency in Quebec French, is a bonus.
  • The ability to travel approximately 50%, including overnight travel.

A bachelor's degree in agriculture, business, marketing or a related field is preferred.

Why this role matters

Canada represents a significant opportunity for eShepherd, and you'll have a genuine hand in building it.

Every producer you bring on board expands what's possible.

Every relationship you develop strengthens our presence.

Every insight you bring back helps us build a better product and a stronger Canadian business.

If you know how to sell, understand agriculture and want the opportunity to build something with real momentum, come build the next era of ranching with us.
