Business Development Manager – Energy & Lubricants (Canada)

Location: Alberta, Canada (Remote)
Reports To: Business Unit Director – Energy & Lubricants
Industry: Specialty Chemical Distribution

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead growth strategies in the Energy and Lubricants market across Canada. The role involves identifying, evaluating, and executing new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and shaping the sector's long-term growth plan. Reporting directly to the Business Unit Director Lubricants and Energy, this position requires a strong commercial leader with proven experience in market development, strategic planning, and technical-commercial execution within the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Market Development: Drive national growth strategies in energy and lubricants, focusing on sustainable revenue. Identify opportunities, trends, and threats, and develop proactive strategies. Expand relationships with high-value customers, suppliers, and industry associations.
  2. Commercial Leadership: Define and implement go-to-market strategies with product management, marketing, and supply chain teams. Develop business cases for new products or markets, including investment and resource planning. Act as liaison between commercial, technical, and operational teams to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction.
  3. Reporting & Forecasting: Provide forecasting, pipeline management, and performance reports to the Business Unit Director and executive team. Use data-driven insights for strategy and resource allocation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Business, or related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years in business development, sales, or commercial leadership in the energy sector.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute growth strategies in complex B2B markets.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship skills.
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed, cross-functional, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Willingness to travel nationally up to 30%.
