About This Role
This role is a key part of CAE Defence & Security (D&S) Business Development and Capture team. As a CAE BD Manager, you'll pursue, develop, and win training and mission support business opportunities, supporting CAE's strategy to maintain leadership in Canada's training and military operational support sector. It requires strategic business acumen, military environmental expertise, procurement and defense policy knowledge, and the ability to lead opportunities to bid and into execution.

The Role Includes:

  • Achieving significant order intake, generally over $50M annually in your program areas
  • Identifying market opportunities, developing new clients and partners, maintaining and growing existing relationships, developing and executing capture strategies, and leading pursuit efforts using CAE’s Lead to Award (L2A) process
  • Supporting CAE capability positioning within the Canadian defense & security market
  • Collaborating with engineering and product teams to develop innovative solutions
  • Working with marketing to plan outreach, deliver sales presentations, and enhance the CAE brand
  • Developing offset strategies and exploring partnerships, including academic and indigenous collaborations
  • Leading pursuit and capture teams, developing win themes and strategies
  • Managing budgets and expenses for pursuits
  • Providing visibility into key opportunities and sharing expertise with colleagues
  • Leading bid and proposal teams to prepare winning submissions
  • Monitoring market offerings and technological advancements

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, or related technical field; MBA preferred
  • Deep knowledge of military operations and/or technology, via military service or industry experience
  • 12+ years in Canadian Defence and Security industry
  • 6+ years in Canadian Defence procurement
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Leadership and collaboration skills with OEMs and partners
  • Advanced sales, market research, and business skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Established network within Canadian defense, DND, PSPC, ISED, or equivalent environments
  • Ability to hold NATO SECRET Security Clearance & Controlled Goods Clearance
  • Eligibility to work in Canada (Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Work Permit)
  • Willingness to travel within Canada (25-40%) and overseas (10%)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
