POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of a Business Development Manager is to identify and proactively initiate new relationships with referral partners and actively develop and expand existing business relationships. Additionally, the role will work closely with our referral partners and their clients to nurture individual sales opportunities and ensure a positive, frictionless customer experience.

MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE:

Key accountabilities of this position include:

  • Deliver on established sales targets by managing an assigned group of Banks within a designated territory.
  • Generate revenue and achieve individual, team and organizational quotas, while also contributing to sales strategy by defining and implementing plans to achieve sales objectives.
  • Develop a sales strategy that focuses on building strong, long-lasting relationships through exceptional customer service, deep product-knowledge, and acting as a trusted advisor and partner.
  • Close sales by effectively managing the sales process, acting as the primary contact from origination through to funding, supporting both internal partners and the Banks.
  • Develop and maintain referral-producing relationships within an established portfolio by providing the tools, resources, and support needed to effectively position and recommend HEB products through calls, emails, prospecting, tradeshows, and virtual presentations.
  • Manage assigned relationships and associated expenses thoroughly and accurately via Salesforce, Concur, and other internal systems, and provide sound activity management reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as marketing, underwriting, and other sales teams to ensure a coordinated and efficient approach to serving the Banking community.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualifications and Technical Expertise:

  • Progressive financial services sales experience, in business development, relationship management, credit or mortgage brokering.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent.
  • Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM application.

  • Demonstrated strong understanding of the current financial services and economic environment.
  • A passion for relationship building, business development and customer service; driven to grow relationships.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Natural leadership qualities.
  • Team player and effective at managing positive relationships with internal partners who play a role in funding of deals (e.g. Underwriting).
  • A demonstrated track record of overachieving sales quotas.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to be a top earner in a performance-based compensation model.
  • Disciplined, innovative, and organized.
  • Travel within assigned territory to meet with partners, remote/home office based.
