We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team!

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing the overall business development processes of BioTalent Canada. The Business Development Manager will be directly involved in developing new partnerships and sales revenue sources for BioTalent Canada in line with BioTalent Canada’s current Partnership program, product and service offerings, expertise and skills as well as retaining recurring business. The position will be target-focused with revenue generation expectations and milestones.

The Business Development Manager will be charged with primarily outside sales but also managing inside sales personnel and processes.

In this role you can expect:

  • Sales Leadership & Business Development
  • Pursuit of progressive sales targets across all BioTalent Canada’s partnership and Product Lines
  • Primary Responsibility for Recruitment and Retention within BioTalent Canada’s established Partnership Program, as well as other revenue lines, including Product Sales and Contracting sales
  • Lead, coach, and performance-manage inside sales personnel, ensuring alignment with revenue goals, pipeline development, and customer retention metrics
  • Focus on generating new revenue and closing new business projects while attention to retention of existing recurring business
  • Implement structured partner engagement plans — from onboarding through to renewal and upsell — to maximize lifetime value
  • Presenting BioTalent Canada as a thought leader to potential new Partners and their key audiences publicly and privately
  • Working cooperatively with the Marketing and Communications Department for proper messaging, promotion, launch and sales collateral for all products and services
  • Assisting with Market Research, Lead Generation and Prospecting for new Partners and consumers of BioTalent Canada’s Products & Services
  • Working collaboratively with internal BioTalent Canada team managers to drive revenue through Lead Generation
  • Representing BioTalent Canada and Business Development at internal and external meetings and presentations, locally and across Canada at appropriate industry conferences, and networking events
  • Suggesting strategies to identify, validate, and launch new revenue streams aligned with BioTalent Canada’s strategic vision
  • Integrating new and existing partners as stakeholders in new and existing BioTalent Canada projects.
  • Attending Management Meetings and interacting and supporting BioTalent Canada Management as required
  • Assisting in formulating new product revenue streams post-launch and vertical business development strategies
  • Forging and advancing private sector relationships with industry leaders, academic institutions, and other potential partners
  • Ensuring the integrity of BioTalent Canada brand in all communication materials
  • Collaborating on brainstorming and strategy of new product and sales strategies as required
  • Generating sales, sales funnel, forecast and lead generation reports as required
  • Tracking Business Development Progress, Reports and instituting suggestions for improvements, corrections and refinements to sales procedures and systems
  • Other duties as requested by the President and CEO

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Minimum 5 years related management experience in outside sales and lead generation in a B2B environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field or equivalent in experience
  • Proven track record in business development, closing new business and retention and growth of existing customers
  • Affability, Advanced Interpersonal Relationship skills and a great sense of humour
  • Ability to position, act in and develop business Partnerships with varying industry key audiences
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in Management of other Sales Personnel
  • Presentation and public speaking skills
  • Interpersonal, rapport building and networking skills
  • Displays a proven drive for success
  • Collaboration and innovation
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, CRM experience preferred
  • Fluency in both of Canada’s official languages is a definite asset
  • Experience in Canada’s bio-economy a definite asset
