THE OPPORTUNITY

Looking for a role doing what you love at a dynamic and innovative consulting firm? We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team at our Kelowna or Vancouver, BC locations on a permanent full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities across private sector, government, and Indigenous markets.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships with private sector clients, government agencies, and Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Research and analyze market trends, client needs, and the competitive landscape to support strategic growth.
  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of proposals, qualifications packages, and client presentations, including for government contracts and partnership opportunities with Indigenous communities.
  • Work closely with technical teams, project managers, and leadership to develop pursuit strategies and support project delivery.
  • Travel to industry events, conferences, Indigenous business forums, and networking functions.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to align business development initiatives with overall corporate objectives.
  • Develop sales leads through various methods.
  • Lead monthly internal Business Development meetings for all sector leads.
  • Achieve assigned sales targets and performance metrics.
  • Work with marketing to develop campaigns and content to key client sectors.
  • Regularly monitor the BCBid Portal for potential opportunities
  • Lead client account management activities, ensuring client satisfaction and looking for more opportunities to grow.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and forecasts based on sales activities, market intelligence and client feedback to senior management.
  • This role is expected to involve substantial travel and will require a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to operate effectively across multiple disciples and different working environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., EP, PMP) is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years’ business development experience in the engineering or environmental consulting industries.
  • Proven experience working with private sector clients, securing government contracts, and building partnerships with Indigenous communities.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycles, regulatory environments, consulting services, and government procurement processes.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and closing business opportunities across diverse client sectors.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and access to a vehicle.
