Qualifications

What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a dynamic team in one of Canada's largest Global Asset Management (GAM) firms within the Canadian wealth industry. We are looking for energetic, sales-savvy, and client service-oriented individuals to join our team. As a Business Development Manager, you will work with a Director, Regional Sales within a defined territory to increase market share of CIBC Global Asset Management with existing clients while developing new business relationships through prospecting. Your primary sales activity will be over the telephone and, when required, face-to-face meetings with clients, as determined by regional activities. You will drive sales growth by partnering with external wholesalers to promote our investment solutions to financial and investment advisors. Your role involves proactive outreach, relationship management, and providing exceptional support to our distribution partners.

Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed during your interview.

Pay Range - $90,000 - $120,000 per annum

How you’ll succeed
  • Business Development: Prospect for new business with advisors in your territory over the phone through contacts and follow-ups.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of CAM’s current products, market trends, features, benefits, and investment strategies; deliver product information and tools during client meetings.
  • Relationship Building: Strengthen existing relationships to meet sales targets.
  • Sales Enablement: Collaborate with external wholesalers to develop and implement sales strategies to increase market share.
  • Client Engagement: Conduct proactive outreach to financial advisors, provide product information, address inquiries, and identify opportunities to deepen relationships.
  • Product Expertise: Maintain in-depth knowledge of CGAM’s investment products, market trends, and the competitive landscape.
  • CRM Management: Use CRM systems to track interactions, manage pipelines, and ensure data accuracy for reporting.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Work with the marketing team to develop and distribute sales materials and campaigns tailored to client needs.
  • Training & Development: Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry developments.
  • External Wholesalers: Coordinate sales strategies and share market insights.
  • Product Management: Provide feedback on product performance and client needs.
  • Compliance & Legal: Ensure all activities adhere to regulatory standards and policies.
  • Territory Management: Support a geographic region, collaborating to achieve sales targets.
  • Performance Metrics: Sales growth, client engagement, and successful sales initiatives.
  • Client Segmentation: Engage with diverse clients including financial and investment advisors.
  • Product Range: Promote mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, and alternative investments.
Who you are
  • Experience in: Telephone sales within mutual funds/wealth management, with at least 5 years in financial services, preferably in sales or client service roles.
  • Passionate about people: Building relationships, trust, and a diverse network.
  • Certified professional: Current accreditation and good standing in Canadian Securities Course (CSC); additional designations like CFA, CIM, or CFP are assets.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM platforms like Salesforce.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills, capable of articulating complex information persuasively.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and client feedback for strategic decisions.
