Job description

Job Title: Business Development Lead, Vocational Services

Reporting to the National Director, Vocational Services, Lifemark is seeking a Business Development Lead responsible for acting as a subject matter expert, identifying growth opportunities, contributing to overall vocational business strategy, change management, monitoring financial and outcome performance, and managing key initiatives and projects. The role involves researching, writing, and editing proposals in response to RFPs, preferably with a strong background in healthcare, career and employment services, and labour market re-entry.

The successful candidate will work closely with operations, sales, and business development teams to develop proposals that secure new opportunities within vocational rehabilitation, employment services, and related fields. They will lead efforts to seek, secure, and implement new business, including leading team members through proposal submissions and presentations to funders. Responsibilities also include handling grants, bids, and technical writing needs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of securing new business opportunities and experience with RFP processes, vocational service delivery models, and strategic planning, complemented by excellent writing, research, and communication skills. Experience in rehabilitation sectors serving government, insurers, WCBs, and private agencies is preferred.

Core Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with teams and subject matter experts to gather information and technical details for RFP responses.
  2. Generate leads and seek new business through various channels.
  3. Coordinate with marketing, sales, and operations to ensure timely proposal submissions and program implementations.
  4. Research client needs to develop tailored responses.
  5. Stay informed on industry trends and market dynamics to guide business development strategies.
  6. Write clear, compelling proposals following formatting guidelines.
  7. Develop proposals and presentations to acquire new contracts.
  8. Implement strategic plans for new program execution.
  9. Create executive summaries highlighting organizational strengths.
  10. Proofread and review proposals for quality and accuracy.
  11. Manage CRM systems and track business opportunities.
  12. Develop and deliver pitches to potential partners (B2B and B2C).
  13. Conduct market research and competitive analysis.
  14. Report on business development activities and KPIs.
  15. Manage multiple projects to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, English, or related fields; equivalent experience considered.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience in business development, particularly in writing RFPs within vocational rehabilitation and employment services.
  3. Experience and understanding of vocational rehabilitation and employment services industry.
  4. Proven success in securing business opportunities in vocational sectors.
  5. Strong communication skills; bilingual is an asset.
  6. Ability to work independently with an analytical mindset.
  7. Understanding of vocational IT solutions is beneficial.
  8. Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software.
  9. Self-starter with strong interpersonal, time management, and planning skills.
