Job Title: Business Development Manager (Freight Brokerage)

Our client is a fast-growing freight brokerage committed to simplifying logistics for clients across Canada and beyond. With a national reach and a growing book of business, they are looking for a dynamic, motivated sales professional to join their team and help take growth to the next level.

Role Summary

As a Business Development Executive, you’ll be at the forefront of driving new business in the freight and logistics space. This is a full-cycle sales role where you’ll prospect, pitch, and close deals—then stay involved to ensure client satisfaction and long-term growth. You’ll be targeting mid-to-enterprise level clients in Canada and the U.S., with opportunities to tap into the Mexico market as well.

This position is perfect for someone who thrives on cold calling, building genuine relationships, and navigating the fast-moving world of 3PL and freight.

What You’ll Do

  • Generate new business through proactive outreach, including cold calls (60/day), emails, and LinkedIn messaging
  • Target decision-makers in logistics: Transportation Managers, Logistics Managers, VP Supply Chain, Procurement Leaders
  • Work closely with the Sales Team Leader and Key Account Manager to build a strategic pipeline
  • Close deals ranging from $1K–$5K/month in average value
  • Coordinate with internal Dispatch and Operations teams post-sale
  • Track and manage leads using HubSpot and ZoomInfo
  • Maintain and grow accounts over time, with client visits possible in Year 1 and more frequent in Year 2
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve delivery or documentation issues with clients
  • Proactively identify upsell opportunities and new lanes with existing customers

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 2+ years of proven success in freight brokerage, logistics sales, or 3PL environments
  • Strong grasp of TL, LTL, over-the-road, and potentially air freight
  • Previous experience in a non-asset-based logistics company is a strong asset
  • Confident navigating longer sales cycles (7+ touchpoints) and high activity environments
  • Confident communicator who can build rapport quickly
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Driven, self-motivated, and goal-oriented
  • Process-focused with the ability to stay organized across multiple deals
  • Energetic, coachable, and team-oriented
  • Open to mentorship and eager to grow long-term in the logistics industry

Base Salary: $65,000–$75,000 CAD (Based on Experience)

Commission: 10% of GP (Gross Profit)

Benefits (after 3 months): Health, dental, and life insurance

Performance Target: $4,000 in GP by Month 6

Office Location: East York, ON
