Business Development, Director - Utilities

Description

As a Business Development Director at Ledcor Utilities you will serve as the senior representative responsible for client engagement and driving targeted growth within Ledcor’s power utility business in Canada. This role requires extensive knowledge and demonstrates relationships within the power utility market in Ontario. This role will work closely and collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external clients, using comprehensive sales strategies, growth plans, market plans, leveraging existing and creating new relationships to influence and achieve desired revenue and margin targets.

Essential Responsibilities:

Client Relationships and Sales Strategy (50%)

  • Aligned with Ledcor Business Unit operations leaders, the incumbent will identify and assess new opportunities by discovering and leveraging existing and new client business, financial and technical requirements.
  • Will leverage and influence existing relationships while building new relationships directly with clients, potential clients, and related industry experts.
  • Develops a sales strategy to achieve growth targets through detailed account planning, market assessments, available market share, and competitive landscape, with a goal to develop long term client contracts.

Market Research and Financial Planning (20%)

  • Conduct thorough market research to stay informed about industry trends and competitive activities.
  • Be poised to achieve financial objectives by assessing monthly and quarterly forecasts while working with operations and finance.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of monthly and quarterly end client business and financial reviews.

Strategic Alignment and Collaboration with Internal Stakeholders (20%)

  • Lead engagement with Ledcor’s internal operations, finance, legal, support services and senior leadership for planning and aligning on strategy and tactics to support existing and new clients while focusing Ledcor's emphasis on health and safety.
  • Influencing internal stakeholders on sales strategies to ensure cohesive and effective execution.

Market Engagement and Branding Initiatives (10%)

  • Initiates market engagement, including events, forums and conferences that create opportunity for Ledcor branding and networking with new clients or influencers who can support Ledcor's goals.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Power Utility industry experience with a concentration in business development, account management and sales experience
  • Knowledge of utility outside plant construction
  • Proven experience in developing, nurturing, and sustaining client relationships within the Power Utilities industry
  • Ability to determine priorities and consistently deliver results.
  • Knowledge of the Utility Distribution industry (specific to Power and Gas is an asset)

Working Conditions:

  • This role provides a flexible work arrangement, balancing your responsibilities between the comfort of your home office and the collaborative environment of our office space.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time across Canada and the United States
