A leading company in the tourism sector is seeking a Business Development Manager to enhance sector value through partnership building and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will have 4–5 years of relevant experience, strong communication skills, and a post-secondary education in a related field. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary and the potential for permanent employment after contract completion. Local candidates preferred due to regional travel requirements.
Develop and maintain trusted relationships with hotel and lodging stakeholders through virtual and in-person meetings
Identify business development opportunities in key visitor segments such as meetings and group travel
Build partnerships with vendors, clients, and institutional collaborators to enhance sector value
Assess and refine sales strategies based on data, performance metrics, and market needs
Manage sales and event leads using industry-standard CRM platforms and ensure timely distribution to member properties
Represent the organization at industry trade events, conferences, and promotional showcases
Collaborate with marketing partners to evaluate promotional efforts and ensure alignment with goals
Lead internal and external stakeholder engagement to support tourism growth initiatives
Participate in strategic planning and contribute to performance reporting tied to tourism funding models
Conduct member outreach to strengthen engagement and increase perceived membership value
Monitor trends, competitor activity, and shifts in target markets
Assist in refining membership offerings and introducing new services or programs
Provide input on digital strategies, sponsorship opportunities, and long-term advocacy goals
4–5 years’ experience in tourism, hospitality, or accommodation-focused business development or marketing
3–5 years’ supervisory or project leadership experience
Post-secondary education in business, marketing, tourism, or related discipline; advanced degrees an asset
Ability to build trust-based relationships with stakeholders at all levels
Skilled in lead generation, CRM platforms (e.g., Simpleview or equivalent), and data-driven strategy
Comfortable working independently in a hybrid structure and managing shifting priorities
Familiar with the structure and goals of tourism bureaus, advocacy groups, or destination organizations
Strong communicator with excellent writing, presentation, and public speaking skills
Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for regional travel
Compensation: $75,000–$90,000 per year
Potential for permanent employment upon successful contract completion
Hybrid work model with flexible scheduling and field-based responsibilities
Relocation support not provided; local candidates preferred
