JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join as a Business Development Analyst, New Technologies & Innovation.

Reporting to the Manager, Strategy & Resource Planning, this role involves preparing, coordinating, and issuing technical and financial evaluations of potential business opportunities in clean energy technologies and innovation initiatives such as fusion nuclear energy, advanced nuclear technologies, and long-duration energy storage.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities focusing on advanced clean energy technologies like advanced nuclear and fusion energy to promote profitable growth.
  • Coordinate with internal units and external partners to ensure effective execution of nuclear and energy-related projects, including joint ventures and Indigenous partnerships.
  • Prepare and present business cases, market intelligence, and opportunity assessments to senior leadership and ELT to support strategic decisions.
  • Conduct studies and provide insights on emerging technologies, market trends, and regulatory frameworks, emphasizing nuclear innovation.
  • Support drafting and negotiating agreements such as MOUs and NDAs, ensuring project and stakeholder alignment.
  • Contribute to business plans and risk assessments to align with corporate and regulatory objectives.
  • Manage contract administration and project execution, maintaining scope, budget, and performance standards.
  • Promote innovation by integrating lessons learned and technological advances into business practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year degree, preferably in Engineering or Business.
  • Over 6 years of experience in the clean energy innovation sector, focusing on emerging technologies like fusion energy and advanced reactors.
  • Experience in developing and negotiating commercial agreements, MOUs, and partnership frameworks with stakeholders including Indigenous communities, industry, and government.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver strategic presentations and business cases to senior leadership.
  • Skills in market research, feasibility studies, and competitive analysis for nuclear innovation ecosystems and site planning.
  • Familiarity with contract management and stakeholder guidance on policy, compliance, and project performance.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and stakeholder relationships at provincial, federal, and international levels.
