Business Controller, Global FP&A – Food NA

Department: Corporate Finance

Location: Laval, QC (4204 boulevard Industriel, H7L 0E3)

Type of employment: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours)

THE ROLE

Reporting to the FP&A – Director – Food & Loyalty, this position is part of the Global Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team providing financial guidance to the Food leadership team. As a business partner, you will help drive performance from a financial and operational perspective. This position provides information to facilitate management decisions with respect to P&L / Gross Margin / CAPEX through financial analysis; ad hoc data requests and problem solving; researching and analyzing accounting data; and preparing periodic reporting.

What You’ll Do

Reporting and controlling:
  • Prepare and interpret financial reports by compiling and analyzing financial data from different sources and summarizing account information and trends
  • Maintain and mature P&L models for the Food categories, collaborating cross-functionally to meet the Global Food needs
  • Analyze and track period financial reports versus budget and prior year performance and provide comments
  • Assist Global Food teams with ad hoc financial analysis, overall performance insights into product categories
Business planning:
  • Support the overall business planning process across regions
  • Coordinate and align process and deliveries across stakeholders
  • Coordinate and align CAPEX needs/targets/plans with stakeholders
  • Support overall strategy and ambition level setting
Financial Modelling:
  • Build financial models to map potential outcomes of business cases to Financial statements (P&L, FCF, etc.)
  • Identify and review key drivers and assumptions.
Investment Decision Support:
  • Build or review business cases for strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Ensure that assumptions are attainable and aligned.
  • Standardize, improve, and promote investment decision methodologies.
  • Track investment and operating budgets.
  • Educate stakeholders on business case best practices
Operational Expenditure Tracking, Analysis and Reporting Process
  • Coordinate with OPEX team to report, analyze, and provide insight on spending
  • Assist Functional Groups in spend management
  • Collaborate with Finance Controller team to provide timely and accurate variance governance report
  • Support OPEX Finance Controller team in complex questions
Improve and Automate Reporting Tools
  • Work on process and financial data improvement projects
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related annual objectives.
  • Work with the D&A team to analyze a broad range of data sources to uncover valuable insights
Other:
  • Ensure compliance with requirements, policies, and regulations by enforcing adherence to corporate systems, policies, and governmental regulations.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing annual objectives.
  • Traveling required – approx. 2%-5% of the time
What You’ll Need

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
Experience:
  • 5-10 years relevant experience preferably in financial analysis, strategic planning, and/or budgeting and forecasting
Knowledge and skills:
  • Must have advanced knowledge in Excel, working knowledge PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Experience in a commercial setting
  • Experience working with financial systems (Longview, PDI, JD Edwards, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities; strong attention to detail while being able to synthesize information
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets
  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable interacting with all levels of management.
  • Comfortable working independently, in cross-functional teams, and in a global role
  • Willingness to adapt to a dynamic business environment, balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Entrepreneurial and commercial mindset with a drive to make processes easier
  • Ability to initiate actions and take responsibility for outcomes
  • Effective collaboration and professional networking skills
  • Motivated by challenging tasks and complex projects across many countries and regions
Language skills:
  • Bilingualism required (French and English), both written and spoken, to serve English-speaking regions.
