POSITION TITLE: Business Consultant II

DEPARTMENT: NRG

CLASSIFICATION: MGO-09

SALARY RANGE: Starting at $98,838.00 Per Annum

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Permanent

LOCATION: Saskatoon/Remote (within Saskatchewan)

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Senior Business Consultant

Brief Overview: The Business Consultant II will play a vital role in our team, leading complex client projects and providing expert guidance across multiple business disciplines. This position requires a versatile professional with strong analytical skills and project management expertise who can deliver high-quality solutions that meet client needs while upholding NRG's standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Business Development

  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions and develop a professional strategic plan that supports the vision of the group.
  • Evaluate, develop, and update comprehensive business plans, operational plans, and capital planning strategies.
  • Write proposals and grant applications.

Financial Management

  • Conduct thorough financial analysis and prepare financial reports and trend analysis for key business variables, suggesting corrective action where appropriate.
  • Support budget development and financial system implementation.
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative evaluations for capital expenditure proposals and financing options.

Project Management

  • Manage complex, multi-faceted projects from conception to completion.
  • Develop project monitoring frameworks and maintain ongoing project support.
  • Establish clear processes, procedures, and approval mechanisms.
  • Provide expert advice on property management and development initiatives.

Research and Analysis

  • Using various research methods to investigate the feasibility of business opportunities in a variety of sectors throughout the province.
  • Develop needs and demand studies for client programs and services.
  • Lead program evaluations and impact assessments and prepare comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Develop and deliver training programs on subjects such as board governance and understanding financial statements.
  • Research and develop policies and procedures that are both rooted best practices and meet the client’s needs.
  • Support policy development and implementation.
  • Support the design of organizational structures that optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

Other Business Development Functions

  • Provide administrative and accounting assistance as required.
  • Represent NRG at industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop client relationships.
  • Contribute to NRG's own strategic planning and growth initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • University undergraduate bachelor’s degree in commerce, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics and/or Business Economics is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in business consulting, project management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful project delivery for diverse clients.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations, particularly Métis governance structures.
  • Masters in business administration (MBA), Professional certification in Project Management (PMP) and/or Certified Management Consultant (CMC), considered an asset.

Additional Requirements

  • Primarily virtual (work-from-home) with occasional travel to client sites.
  • May require travel to remote or rural communities.
  • Must undergo a Criminal Record Check
  • Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access reliable transportation
