Business Banking Relationship Manager Trainee

Join us to apply for the Business Banking Relationship Manager Trainee role at BMO.

Overview

As a Relationship Manager Trainee, you will cultivate, build, and manage relationships with a portfolio of small business clients. Your goal is to develop a pipeline of new business opportunities and increase BMO's market share. You will apply professional consultative sales and business development practices within your assigned jurisdiction or portfolio. Actively identifying opportunities and referring clients to BMO colleagues as appropriate will be key components of your role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Proactively develop and execute sales strategies to attract new business clients and expand existing relationships.
  2. Build internal and external networks and referral sources to support business growth.
  3. Generate appointments and opportunities through targeted sales efforts.
  4. Create and implement a business plan, including relationship management strategies, to meet customer retention goals.
  5. Identify prospective customers and cross-sell additional products and services.
  6. Develop client rapport, instill confidence, and earn trust as a relationship manager.
  7. Understand local market dynamics and develop relationships with centers of influence.
  8. Deliver exceptional customer service, providing expertise, responsive support, and building trust.
  9. Maintain long-term profitable relationships and expand wallet share within your portfolio.
  10. Respond to inquiries and provide accurate information about banking products and services.
  11. Understand customer needs and offer suitable financial solutions.
  12. Resolve or escalate issues promptly.
  13. Develop solutions and provide recommendations aligned with business strategies and stakeholder needs.
  14. Support the implementation of solutions with advice and guidance.
  15. Monitor performance, address issues, and ensure data management aligns with governance standards.
  16. Lead or participate in change management activities and operational programs.
  17. Ensure security, confidentiality, and compliance with policies and regulations.
  18. Identify risks and document necessary regulatory requirements.
  19. Work independently on complex tasks and adapt to broader responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Typically 4-6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree or equivalent.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including interpreting financial statements and assessing creditworthiness.
  • Knowledge of business banking products, lending processes, and policies.
  • Experience in customer sales and service.
  • Technical proficiency and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, and influence skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making capability.
Compensation
