Effectively establish and coordinate technical business activities aligned with the goals of the Global Finance and Risk Technology (GFRT) organization within Scotiabank. Responsible for overseeing project completion and enhancements by business product owners within specified timeframes and budgets.

The main function of the Business Application Specialist is to estimate, analyze, design, document, test, and support system solutions for Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) for Global Procurement Services (GPS). This role supports project execution and system enhancements, adhering to software development lifecycle standards, including testing, change management, and best practices in business intelligence technology. The individual will collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams, managing relationships with internal GPS partners and third-party vendors.

This is a hands-on role requiring a thorough understanding of detailed system design. Domain expertise should include procurement processes, SRM, TPRM, CLM, Category Sourcing, P2P, incident management, audit compliance, and related areas, along with knowledge of IT enablers, digital transformation, SDLC frameworks, and integration methodologies.

In this role you will:

  • Analyze and estimate highly complex business requirements and change requests.
  • Support the creation of business requirements documentation, review, and analysis with business stakeholders.
  • Produce technical specifications, configurations, and integrations to design or redesign processes and capabilities.
  • Meet regularly with stakeholders, users, and vendors to ensure system efficiency and functionality.
  • Use industry best practices to estimate, design, test, implement, and support solutions.
  • Ensure quality, security, and compliance standards are met for supported applications.
  • Coordinate the design, development, and testing of technical solutions in a complex environment.
  • Complete and document configurations and integrations for TPRM/CLM/P2P systems.
  • Work closely with technical teams for system integration and with Enterprise Architecture to ensure design consistency.
  • Present technical requirements, architecture, and design options to stakeholders and vendors.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-business improvements and efficiencies.
  • Document business processes, data models, applications, and interfaces.
  • Develop guidelines and SOPs for onboarding users and support documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders and vendors on project status.
  • Manage access and licensing inquiries.
  • Ensure applications comply with bank and regulatory standards and document updates.
  • Coordinate outage and performance issue communications, including root cause analysis.
  • Respond to audit requests and report findings to relevant parties.
  • Monitor Key Risk Indicators to ensure application performance and compliance.
  • Provide backup support for incident management when needed.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in technical business analysis and systems.
  • CBAP certification or equivalent experience is an asset.
  • Experience in procurement, TPRM, Payments/Invoicing, or related industries.
  • Experience with system design, development, and installation.
  • Knowledge of S2S and P2P solutions, risk assessment, data tools, BI reporting, and project tracking tools.
  • Strong understanding of Cloud services, especially SaaS, and system integration solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, especially in finance and banking.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a strong asset.
