Job summary

Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) is seeking a Business Analytics Consultant to provide analytical, consultative, and advisory services on supplier‑related initiatives, enabling strategic and operational decision making in supplier management, contract commitments, and category management.

The role involves building analytical models, delivering insights to executive leaders, supporting strategic sourcing, and driving process improvements, with a hybrid work model where two days

Qualifications

• Advanced financial analysis and modelling for strategic decision‑making.

Position Highlights

ICBC’s Strategic Supply Management team is seeking a Business Analytics Consultant to provide analytical, consultative, and advisory services on corporate and divisional initiatives requiring supplier-related insights.

These activities will enable and drive strategic and operational decision making, predominantly in the areas of supplier management, contract commitments management, supplier compensation, and category management while supporting other areas of ICBC business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead analyses of complex or sensitive supplier information by identifying business and supplier opportunities, evaluating data, and presenting clear recommendations to key internal stakeholders.
• Provide quantitative and qualitative insights on emerging trends across ICBC’s supplier programs through research, data analysis, financial modelling, and benchmarking against industry best practices, KPIs, and SLAs.
• Design, develop, and maintain analytical models that support supplier management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with executive leaders and senior management to understand business priorities and operations and identify opportunities to improve supplier management practices.
• Oversee internal initiatives by supporting implementation, monitoring and reporting performance, identifying issues, and developing risk-mitigation strategies.
• Support strategic sourcing, category planning and management, and process‑improvement activities that enhance efficiency and sustainability.

Position Requirements

• Strong business acumen, demonstrated through advanced financial analysis and modelling, leadership of complex analytical projects, and contributions to strategic decision‑making.
• Proficiency in data analysis, quantitative research, and predictive modelling, with the ability to translate large, complex, and diverse datasets into actionable business insights and recommendations.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Tableau, SQL, and either Python or R for data extraction, analysis, modelling, automation, and visualization.
• Experience with AWS analytics platforms and QuickSight is an asset.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across ICBC, frame complex problems, and influence strategic and operational decisions.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and adapt to changing business priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of business performance and process‑improvement principles, concepts, and techniques.
• Relevant experience supported by a professional designation aligned with the role, such as an MBA, CFA, or CPA.

Work arrangements defined:

• Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 2 days per week at your primary office headquarters, subject to operational requirements. The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
