Business Analyst / Project Coordinator, Information and Communications Technology

Primary Purpose: The successful candidate will play a key role in working with stakeholders to mature business practices and lead project delivery. They will seek collaborative positive outcomes with an emphasis on streamlining interactions and improving overall user experiences.

Nature of Work: Reporting to the Director, ICT Enterprise Solutions, the BA/PC will leverage a strong analytical background to effectively manage and mature our systems’ practice and solutions whilst partnering with key departments, units, colleges and process managers to ensure effective completion of key initiatives. The position requires management of competing demands from many diverse stakeholders.

This position will be part of a supportive, cross-functional team that will work collaboratively on service improvement initiatives and projects. As the university’s systems and technical architecture changes, this position must adapt to the changing system and technology landscape.

Accountabilities:

  • Managing and effectively communicating project goals, scope and expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Gathering requirements and developing use cases to support the direction of software solutions within the framework of Enterprise Architecture
  • Providing regular project status reports for leadership and project funders,
  • Make recommendations for effective project governance, project scoping and change management
  • Developing communications to stakeholders, partners, and funders
  • Understand business and functional workflows/processes; able to implement best practices for the betterment of processes (considering scalability, performance, business policies and future needs)
  • Form a partnership with process managers to fully understand business functionality, pain points, and areas of improvement
  • Work with stakeholders to articulate priorities, needs, gaps, and explore opportunities to ensure a positive user experience and journey
  • Capture, analyze, define, and document business change requirements and non-functional requirements
  • Work with ICT teams to ensure solutions are configured according to the acceptance criteria and our enterprise architecture principles
  • Oversees and executes collaborative and cross-functional initiatives for releases identified for their area with medium risk and medium potential organization wide impact
  • Document and maintain policies, processes and procedures, and related decisions and recommendations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, process managers, colleges/units, ICT staff and other relevant stakeholders

Qualifications:

Education: A diploma, certificate or degree in a relevant field is required. We appreciate that non-traditional career paths may have developed a candidate’s competency, and alternate combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience: A considerable amount of experience in Project Management, Business Analysis, Business Process Management, Change Management or a related field.

An understanding of the University of Saskatchewan and/or the higher education industry is an asset.

Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment with the ability to work effectively in informal and formal teams with people from diverse communities, cultures, and perspectives.

Skills: ability to learn, excellent communication; strong problem solving skills; ability to identify trends and recognize emerging issues, assess the impact of those issues, and make recommendations for proactive change; the ability to gather requirements, lead meetings and make presentations to small groups; demonstrated ability to research and solve problems using a variety of resources and tools; ability to monitor progress and quality effectively, remain detail-oriented at the same time understand the big-picture
