Job summary

TELUS Health in Calgary is seeking a Business Analyst II to join the Drug Operations team, ensuring Health Canada-approved drugs, formularies, and DIN-based lists are current and precise to support Canadians in accessing medications.

You will work with cross-functional teams to maintain data accuracy, manage formulary structures, and respond to pricing or coverage inquiries while meeting SLAs. A strong background in PBM and SQL will help optimize data quality in a regulated healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • PBM experience with claim adjudication principles, formulary management, and pharmacy benefit systems
  • 1–3 years in a comparable business analyst, pharmacy operations, or drug information role
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data validation, formula development) for managing and analyzing formulary and pricing data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to document complex business processes clearly and concisely
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly to changing requirements
  • Working knowledge of SQL or database query tools for data retrieval and validation
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy in a regulated healthcare environment

Responsibilities

  • Maintain flawless database accuracy by adding, updating, and validating drug information for Health Canada-approved products and provincial PINs in the TELUS system, using both database UI entry and SQL queries to prevent claim processing errors
  • Master and manage PBM claim adjudication data structures by creating and maintaining formularies, price files, categorization rules, and list management to ensure smooth claim processing across pharmacy networks
  • Establish standardized business process documentation that captures workflows, decision trees, and system requirements while ensuring consistency across the Drug Operations team
  • Provide expert, timely responses to complex drug pricing, plan coverage, and formulary inquiries from internal teams and external stakeholders, meeting established SLAs while maintaining comprehensive documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including pharmacy operations, compliance, and system administrators to implement updates, troubleshoot claim adjudication issues, and optimize data quality processes

As a Business Analyst II, you'll ensure that Health Canada-approved drugs, formularies, and DIN-based lists are current and precise, directly impacting how millions of Canadians access their medications. Qualifications

What you bring

  • Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) experience with demonstrated knowledge of claim adjudication principles, formulary management, and pharmacy benefit systems
  • 1–3 years of experience in a comparable business analyst, pharmacy operations, or drug information role
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data validation, formula development) for managing and analyzing formulary and pricing data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to document complex business processes clearly and concisely
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly to changing requirements
  • Working knowledge of SQL or database query tools for data retrieval and validation
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy in a regulated healthcare environment

Great-to-haves

  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English, with ability to communicate complex drug information in both languages
  • Post-secondary diploma or certification in pharmacy, healthcare administration, or a related field
  • Experience with TELUS Health systems or other pharmacy benefit management platforms

Salary Range: $57,000-$105,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 10%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.
