SAIT’s Finance department seeks a Business Analyst to help optimize financial systems and processes. You will analyze business needs, document requirements, and support initiatives that improve efficiency and data quality across SAIT’s finance function.

Reporting to the Finance Business Solutions Manager, you will collaborate with Finance staff and cross-functional teams to design effective systems, drive change, and champion responsible AI adoption in Finance.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Information Systems, Business, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with financial systems.
• Business Analyst certificate or related credentials are preferred.

The Opportunity

Job classification: P5944 - Business Analyst

Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000

Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.

Hours per week: 37.5

Paid leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year

The Finance Business Solutions team bridges business needs and technical solutions by managing integrated finance systems that support departmental and institution-wide operations.

Reporting to the Manager, Finance Business Solutions, the Business Analyst collaborates with Finance staff, provides analytical support and helps design and implement efficient, effective systems and processes for SAIT’s finance function.

The Business Analyst applies strong analytical, process design, and change management skills to deliver sustainable improvements and successful adoption. This role also supports existing systems and upgrades. The role champions AI literacy and responsible AI adoption across the Finance department.

This position is well suited to an individual who is passionate about finance innovation, enjoys solving complex business challenges, and excels at bringing people, processes, and technology together to deliver meaningful transformation.

Business Process Improvement

• Perform analytical work to identify opportunities for improvement
• Support project planning and implementation
• Handle documentation such as process mapping, standard operating procedures, training, and communication documents
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements
• Support Finance leaders and Finance Business Solutions team to implement initiatives.
• Research best practices for financial functions
• Analyze and solution moderately complex business processes and re-engineer where applicable to ensure SAIT is optimizing efficiency and effectiveness with these processes
• Plan and execute testing cycles

Collaboration and Change

• Work across Finance and departments that interact with Finance processes to build relationships, understand opportunities and challenges.
• Be a change agent and promote change management techniques across the Finance department.
• Be a catalyst for change within the Finance department for business process and system changes in alignment with current strategic direction
• Advance Finance’s use of AI agents and generative AI to drive efficiencies in Finance

Business Solutions Support

• Provide operational support for Finance systems and staff where required such as troubleshooting, system upgrades, access management, data extracts, analysis, and development.

Minimum Qualifications

• Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Information Systems, Business discipline, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience working with financial systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Business Analyst certificate.
• Education or experience related to Business Process Improvement.
• 3+ years of experience working with SQL.
• Project Management training and experience.
• Change Management training and experience.
• AI Agent, Copilot, and ChatGPT knowledge and experience.

• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate financial and technical information.
