Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Analyst with a proven track record in IT projects and a deep understanding of the utilities or oil & gas industry. As a Business Analyst at Sia Partners, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. You will work closely with clients to understand their strategic goals, analyze business challenges, and deliver innovative and actionable insights.

• While our offices are located in Alberta, you may be asked to work East Coast hours should our client have that requirement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Facilitates and creates business process maps
2. Analyze process models of the current state (As-Is) and compare them to the future states (To-be) and determine the necessary changes for arriving at the end state, including identification of change impacts to roles in the processes
3. Identify, document and analyze business rules that govern the implementation of business processes
4. Assist on fit/gap analysis of solutions
5. Participate in planning initiatives, feasibility studies, cost/benefit analyses, new deliverables
6. Examine processes holistically to understand the impact of changing them on people, strategy, existing software applications and general business operations
7. Monitor and measure the effectiveness of processes to ensure consistent value delivery
8. Participate in quality reviews to ensure traceability of the designs to the requirements
9. Assist in review and/or creation of training materials
10. Support change management activities
11. Use Business Analysis industry tools and techniques, to document information needs and functional requirements
12. Perform subject matter research and business analysis
13. Research, analyze, identify system gaps, recommend, and participate in the deployment of solutions
14. Create/review Business Requirement Documents (BRD) and translation of BRD to functional specifications and traceability matrices
15. Participate in testing - test and execute processes to ensure that the right results are achieved
16. Facilitate User Acceptance Testing

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or information technology or equivalent education plus experience
2. 5-10 years experience working as a Business Analyst or PM/Scrum Master on IT projects
3. Experience working specifically with Microsoft technologies will be considered an asset
4. Familiarity with Agile methodologies (understanding the roles and responsibilities of various team members). Any formal SCRUM or AGILE certifications will be considered an asset
5. Strong presentation and facilitation skills. Ability to interact with key business stakeholders as well as technical team members
6. Experience and knowledge of project management principles and methodologies
7. Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms
8. Motivated by an entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable with ambiguity
9. Confident, self-aware collaborator open to receiving and providing, effective feedback
10. Business Analyst Certification is considered an asset
11. Change Management Certification is considered an asset
