Position Details

The Dhillon School of Business Dean’s Office invites qualified applicants to apply for the 35-hour a week, 14-week, temporary Business Analyst and Technology Implementor position. This position will support the Dhillon School of Business Dean’s office by working with the Associate Dean and Director of Curriculum and Timetabling to understand and automate the work needed to determine the courses offered each term, provide information for timetabling, staffing of those courses, and related activities such as contracts, emails and textbook orders. Working remotely from Calgary or elsewhere in southern Alberta may be possible, if the candidate can come to Lethbridge campus at least every two weeks. Co-op students registered with the University of Lethbridge must notify the Co-op program if they are the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with involved staff to identify the steps in and document the business processes involved in timetabling and staffing courses;
  • Identification, cleaning, and loading of data needed for course timetabling and staffing into the appropriate software;
  • Application of database and workflow automation technology to automate the related business processes, including loading of data into the database and development of communication;
  • Testing of the resulting technology;
  • Developing documentation and training materials to support the use of the created systems.

Hourly rate: $23.96/hr

Position Qualifications

  • You must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, in a computer science, business technology, or related field.
  • You must have completed at least two years of undergraduate post-secondary study with satisfactory academic performance, or be in a graduate (Master’s or Ph.D.) program.
  • You must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • You must have completed at least one post-secondary course in relational databases. Completion of courses in programming, systems analysis, and business process analysis is desirable. Prior familiarity with Airtable is desirable.
  • Prior familiarity with an office environment and related software is desirable.
  • You must have excellent spoken and written communication skills, good active listening skills, as well as good attention to detail, creativity, problem solving, and good time management abilities.
  • You must meet the criteria to be a participant in the Canada Summer Jobs 2025 program, including:
    • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
