Description:
Supporting the modernization of the Social Assistance reporting platform (Legacy Cognos system), the Senior Business Analyst will collaborate with the agile product team to review and redesign the existing data model to be scalable and flexible, meeting current program and Ministry needs for analytical and operational reporting.
Responsibilities include:
- Backlog Management: Collaborate with the Product Owner to prioritize and refine the product backlog, ensuring user stories are well-defined and development-ready.
- Sprint Planning: Participate in sprint planning to define scope and objectives aligned with business goals.
- Requirement Elicitation: Work with stakeholders and the development team to gather and clarify requirements, including user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Continuous Improvement: Engage in sprint retrospectives to identify and implement improvements.
- User Story Development: Write and refine clear, concise, and actionable user stories.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate communication between stakeholders and the development team to ensure solutions meet business needs.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain up-to-date documentation and provide regular project progress reports.
Experience and Skill Set Requirements:
Business Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills - 35%
- Requirement elicitation, documentation, gap analysis, solution evaluation, UI/UX design, and recommendations. (MUST HAVE)
- Facilitating sessions with diverse audiences for requirements discovery using methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid. (MUST HAVE)
- Developing epics and user stories with stakeholders across the program.
- Writing user stories in Azure DevOps. (MUST HAVE)
- Understanding client problems, services, and business goals/objectives.
- Translating needs into design models and concepts.
- Evaluating requirements, analyzing solutions, and assessing impacts of system changes.
- Recommending approaches and translating technical terminology to business terms.
Technical Knowledge and Expertise - 25%
- Experience managing business transformation and solution design initiatives, focusing on business architecture and UI/UX. (MUST HAVE)
- Designing enterprise data warehouses and supporting data management requirements.
- Understanding data warehouse modeling (Kimball and Inmon).
- Knowledge of hardware/software operations, web technologies, and database systems.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture in Azure, particularly in data warehouses, marts, lakes. (MUST HAVE)
- Familiarity with front-end, web-based technologies, and reporting tools (nice to have).
- Providing source-to-target mapping and understanding SDLC, ITIL, SQL, and emerging IT trends.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards like AODA and WCAG 2.1.
Organizational and Project Management Skills - 20%
- Project planning, development, management, and resolution of technical issues.
- Task estimation, scheduling, control, and documentation for knowledge transfer.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills - 20%
