Job summary

emergiTEL is seeking a Business Analyst to support our client in the Financial Services sector. The position is a 10-month contract with possible extension, located in Calgary or Edmonton, AB, hybrid with one in-office day per week for team meetings.

You will drive Payments Modernization, Real-Time Rail, and Money Movement Sustainment efforts, map processes, gather requirements, analyze data, and collaborate with architects, developers, and designers.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in payments channels and products.
• 2–3 years in the payments industry with clearing and settlement knowledge.
• Ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Payments Modernization programs and initiatives.
• Primarily support Real-Time Rail (RTR) and FSRB initiatives.
• Assist Money Movement Sustainment activities.
• Perform process mapping and business process analysis.
• Gather, document, and validate business and technical requirements.
• Conduct data analysis to support solution design and decision-making.

• Participate in testing activities, including test planning, execution, and validation.

Job Description

• Support Payments and initiatives under the Payments Modernization program.
• Primarily support the Real-Time Rail (RTR) and FSRB initiatives (approximately 90% of responsibilities).
• Support Money Movement Sustainment activities (approximately 10% of responsibilities).
• Perform process mapping and business process analysis.
• Gather, document, and validate business and technical requirements.
• Conduct data analysis to support solution design and decision-making.
• Collaborate with solution architects, developers, and designers.
• Participate in testing activities, including test planning, execution, and validation.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand objectives and priorities.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Create and maintain user stories, story maps, and related Agile documentation.
• Support the successful delivery of Real-Time Rail initiatives through FY27/28.

Qualifications and Skills

• University degree in Computer Science, Business, Management, Human Computer Interactions, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 2-3 years of experience related to channels and payments, including payment products.
• 2-3 years of experience within the payments industry with knowledge of clearing and settlement processes.
• Experience with APIs, web services, application design, system design, and technical communications.
• Ability to communicate complex information and concepts to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Results-driven self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven team player committed to growth and continuous improvement.
• Experience in retail banking, business banking, financial services, or digital experiences is considered an asset.
• Working knowledge of SAP and/or core banking systems is preferred.
