The Opportunity

PLATO is Canada's only Indigenous-led, Indigenous-staffed software testing services firm. We prioritize working with quality people who share our passion for quality testing. Our team of specialists believes that better software leads to a better world. We are committed to building strong communities by training and employing members of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities across Canada, aiming to build a network of 1000 Indigenous software testers nationwide. PLATO has offices in or near Indigenous communities across Canada, including Fredericton, Sault Ste Marie, Ottawa/Gatineau, Regina, Prince Albert, Calgary, and Vancouver.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Business Analyst to join our team. The Business Analyst will analyze and define IT requirements, ensuring technology solutions meet business needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent analytical skills, and effective communication skills. This role requires working in our Sault Ste. Marie office.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into technical requirements.
• Conduct detailed analysis of current systems, processes, and workflows to identify areas for improvement.
• Develop functional specifications (FRD), user stories & personas, process maps, and Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) for IT projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Facilitate meetings and workshops with business stakeholders and IT teams to gather and prioritize requirements.
• Work closely with development and QA teams to ensure accurate and timely implementation of solutions.
• Perform gap analysis and provide post-implementation support.
• Support project managers in planning, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely delivery.
• Assist in user acceptance testing and coordinate system rollouts.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
• Proven experience (5+) as Business Analyst or similar in client projects involving technology.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with business process modeling tools.
• Experience working with government projects is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Jira, Trello, Miro, DevOps, etc.
• Relevant certifications like CBAP or PMI-PBA are preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Highly organized, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.
• Willingness to coach and mentor team members.

Additional Requirements

• Must be within commuting distance to Sault Ste. Marie and work from our office, with occasional on-site work.
• Flexibility to travel to client sites as needed.
