Are you looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to advance your career? We are on the lookout for an ambitious Business Affairs Manager to join our team at our Toronto Office!

The Role :

The Business Affairs Manager serves as INNOCEAN’s subject matter expert in talent, insurance, and licensing. Acting as a key liaison with legal, the BA is the go-to resource for producers, creatives, account management, and agency leadership. This role requires a positive, solutions-oriented mindset, the confidence to say no when necessary, and a curious, forward-thinking approach to stay engaged in an ever-evolving industry.

What Your Typical Day Will Look Like :

  • Work closely with producers and client teams to offer solutions, negotiate costs, create talent estimates and payment terms
  • Review production contracts, including with sole proprietor content creators
  • Interface and coordinate with creative, client engagement, accounting, legal and outside production partners
  • Have knowledge of legal guidelines for commercial production, licensing language, trademark, rights of privacy, copyright and production insurance
  • Partner with legal as needed to assess risk and negotiate agreements
  • Experience in intelligent content initiatives (Addressable TV, CTV, DCO), is a plus
  • Experience in AI rights management and a working knowledge of the generative AI space is a plus
  • Evaluate and monitor agency contracts to ensure suppliers comply with the terms and conditions of the contract in accordance with the agency and client policies
  • Apply for and manage production insurance on jobs less than $50,000 and up to $5,000,000
  • Work with legal teams to outline, develop and process contracts, MSA’s and SOW’s
  • Manage celebrity talent contracts and retainer-based contracts for brand ambassadors
  • License stock assets for use in integrated campaigns
  • Maintain a server of completion reports and track rights management across all clients

What You Bring :

  • 5+ years’ experience working as a BA in the advertising industry and a creative agency.
  • Experience in both signatory and non-union environments.
  • Automotive industry experience is an asset
  • Bi-lingual with experience in both the English and French-Canadian markets.
