The Abbotsford School District is seeking a Bus Driver to ensure safe transportation for students and staff. This position involves a morning and afternoon split shift, with varying routes and times. You are guaranteed a minimum of 25 hours per week, with potential to increase hours. The position includes extended health benefits and pension plans. During training, you will be paid minimum wage; upon successful completion, you will receive the regular wage.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under supervision, the Bus Driver safely operates the school bus according to a set schedule, ensuring passengers are transported safely and on time. Passengers include students, students with special needs, staff, and volunteers. The driver manages student behavior, maintains order, reroutes around traffic issues, and communicates with dispatch via radio. Customer service skills are essential for handling complaints courteously and professionally.
The driver is responsible for the bus's condition and cleanliness, including inspections, logging mileage, communicating issues, and cleaning the bus interior and exterior.
The role is self-directed but requires adherence to safety regulations and district policies, with duties performed through interpersonal and technical skills.
During training, pay is at minimum wage; post-training, regular wages apply upon successful completion.
