Accountability Objective

Are you a dynamic and creative individual passionate about enhancing resident experiences? Under the direction of the Life Enrichment Manager, our Bus Driver provides transportation for outings and programs that promote wellness across physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual domains. While prioritizing safety and well-being, this role is vital in creating resident-centric environments where residents find fulfillment in their activities.

Background / Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of grade 12 education required.
  • Valid Class 4 operator’s license, clean driving record, and 2 years passenger driving experience required. Must provide a 5-year Drivers’ Abstract.
  • Certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR.
  • Experience in recreation programming for seniors is an asset.
  • Dementia knowledge / experience is an asset.
  • Resident-oriented with values aligned with the residence.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to work well independently and in a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to quality improvement standards.
  • Provide safe transportation for residents under the direction of the Life Enrichment Manager.
  • Maintain and service the vehicle regularly, keep up with inspections.
  • Manage scheduling and trips efficiently, accommodating schedule changes.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report issues immediately; record mileage accurately.
  • Assist with recreation programs and activities as assigned.
  • Monitor and report residents’ behavior and condition during trips.
  • Maintain records related to attendance, assessments, and program evaluations.
  • Communicate positively with community members, families, staff, and volunteers to support residents’ leisure needs.
  • Follow emergency response procedures and safety policies.
  • Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and mandatory training requirements.
  • Participate in safety programs and drills.
