Summary
The
Industrial Burner Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial burner systems critical in manufacturing plants, refineries, power generation facilities, and commercial boilers.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The Boiler Technician works on burners (gas, oil, methane, propane), boiler controls, feedwater units, pumps, valves, softeners, and related systems.
The Industrial Burner Service Technician's projects and services include, but are not limited to:
Installation
- Installing new burner systems according to manufacturer specifications and engineering drawings.
- Connecting burners to fuel supplies, electrical systems, and control panels or automation systems.
Maintenance
- Performing routine inspections for efficiency and safety.
- Cleaning, calibrating, and adjusting burner components for optimal performance.
- Identifying and resolving operational issues such as fuel flow or ignition problems.
Repair
- Using diagnostic tools to identify issues.
- Replacing faulty parts like burners, nozzles, igniters, sensors.
- Conducting post-repair testing to ensure safety and functionality.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintaining records of maintenance and repairs.
- Training operators on proper burner operation and safety practices.
Emergency Response
- Availability for emergency repairs outside regular hours.
- Responding promptly to minimize downtime.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assisting with boiler, HVAC, or other services as needed.
Knowledge & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of mechanical/electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Deep knowledge of burner systems, combustion, and related equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and mechanical skills.
- Awareness of safety protocols and regulations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Attention to detail in inspections and documentation.
- Knowledge of burners, gas train components, boiler controls, electrical and mechanical systems.
