Job summary

Contrans Vrac is seeking a qualified driver in Ontario, Hamilton, for heavy haul and dump trailer operations. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, loading/unloading bulk materials, tarping, and trailer maintenance.

The role involves climbing into/out of trailers, operating the tractor-trailer, and ensuring safe, compliant transportation across routes. Requirements include an AZ license, a good CVOR, and a clean Driver's Abstract; cross-border experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have AZ license and a clean CVOR record.
• Driver's Abstract in good standing preferred.
• Border crossing experience between Canada and the U.S. is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip inspections and handle lifting tasks up to 50 pounds.
• Load and off-load Bulk/Dump products; tarp trailers.
• Clean trailers and equipment; manage cross bows on top of trailers.
• Operate tractor-trailer at 1–4 hour shifts; drive on long hauls as needed.
• Deal with malfunctioning equipment and ensure safe operation.

Driver's Abstract

Job description

• Pre-trip inspections(Involve walking, bending, lifting and releasing the kingpin from the fifth wheel, approximately 50 pounds pulling force and winding dolly legs up or down, approximately 10 pounds force on the crank)
• Loading and off loading Bulk / Dump products
• Tarping (Opening and closing the trailer tarp on dump trailers, approximately15 pounds force twisting the tarp crank to open and up to 60 pounds pulling to close)
• Cleaning Trailers out (Sweeping the trailer after unloading – climbing,bending and walking.)
• Cleaning Trailers with Frozen product in side
• Removal of cross bows along the top of trailer (Requires hammer to removeall 10 cross bows)
• Climbing in and out of the tractor (approximately but not limiting to 2-4times daily)
• Driving (Driving can vary between 1 to 4 hours sitting and shifting thetransmission)
• Walking on uneven ground at different facilities while loading and off loading
• Dealing with Malfunctioning equipment (Trailer doors could get stuck,Trailer bows not easily coming out, issues with trapping system that may need extra force)
• Knowledge of axle weights
• Safe operation of equipment

Employment Requirements:

• Must be physically fit to climb 12’ in & out of dump trailers, approximately but not
• limiting to 2-4 times daily
• Must be able to lift 20 to 25 kg’s of material in & out of trailers, approximately but not limiting to 2-4 times daily
• Must be able to cross various borders between Canada and the U.S Minimum of 1 yearr heavy haul experience
• Or 3 years over the road experience Licenses / Certificates: AZ license
• Qualifications / Skills: Good CVOR and good Drivers Abstract
