Job description

Overview

Element is looking for a highly motivated Building Systems Technologist to conduct various building envelope performance evaluations to well-defined standards and/or operating procedures. This position involves fenestration thermal modeling, physical testing, client interaction, and technical report writing.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform computerized thermal modeling of window and door systems; internal training to be provided.
  2. Perform physical tests of full-scale building envelope assemblies and components in accordance with recognized standards.
  3. Involvement in sample preparation, test setup, data collection & analysis.
  4. Understanding of relevant standards and specifications.
  5. Write technical reports complete with full specimen description, relevant reference standard/specification, and test results.
  6. Participate in client correspondence and project coordination.
  7. Purchase materials and maintain equipment records.
  8. Maintain equipment calibrations.
Skills / Qualifications
  1. Completion of a College or University program in Engineering or Technology.
  2. Strong understanding of engineering concepts.
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Computer proficiency: MS Office, AutoCAD, Visual Basic, C++.
  5. NFRC thermal simulation experience is an asset.
  6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  7. Ability to manage projects from initial setup, test execution to technical report writing.
  8. Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required.
  9. Ability to set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under minimal supervision and technical input of a Senior/Principal Test Technician.
  10. Conduct safe material handling per Element guidelines.
  11. Experience with common construction power tools.
