Building Services Worker - Custodial (Evening Shift)

This position is for an evening shift that will work from 7:00 pm to 3:00 am.

The Opportunity

Banff Centre seeks a Building Services Worker to provide custodial and care-taking services, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across campus inside various public and office areas.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include care-taking or custodial duties in classrooms, halls, lounges, gyms, locker rooms, washrooms, offices, kitchens, and dining areas. Typical tasks include:

• Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
• Dusting and sanitizing surfaces
• Cleaning windows and ledges
• Maintaining cleanliness of toilets, sinks, showers, and change rooms
• Emptying trash and recyclables

The role may involve heavy lifting and the use of cleaning chemicals, with personal protective equipment provided.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

• Understanding of cleaning practices and their application
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
• Minimal supervision after training
• Good prioritization skills to handle fluctuating daily tasks
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Attention to detail and high work standards
• Physically capable of lifting up to 30 pounds

Special Requirements

• Availability to work a rotating schedule, including non-consecutive days off, based on operational needs

Employment Terms & Benefits

• Unionized position under CUPE 4318, with a 500-hour probationary period
• Hourly wage of $18.64 for up to 37.5 hours/week on a rotating schedule
